Chapter 1

Today I begin year 10. Am I nervous yes, do I want to be here....? Yes. Do I wish I could be back at my old school....? Yes. But there is an upside to the whole transfer student thing. A blank slate, and with that comes a new beginning. No one knows me here. Well that was until I turned the corner at Windgate High to see Clara, Brittany and Tiffany talking to some boys near the lockers. These girls were exactly what I didn’t need. They knew everything about me, all my flaws, my weaknesses and embarrassing moments from my old school. I turned and walked away as fast as I could, bumping into some grade 11 boys tripping over one of their feet. As I sit on the ground one of them pulls me up and helps me brush all the dirt off my uniform.

"You alright there Rachael?" he asks.

"It's Ashlee not Rachael," I say.

"Well okay then Christie. How about it, are you alright?"

"Dude, she just said her name was Ashlee not Christie," one of the other boys replies.

"I know, but she looks more like a Christie to me," he smiles at me, "come on I'll walk you to your next class."

He walked me to class the whole time asking me questions about myself and my old school and what classes I have.

His name was Chase and he lives a street over from me. It turns out we have music together because it's a joined class.

He was a nice boy and as we said our goodbye’s he quickly asked me to sit with him and his friends at lunch. Naturally I said yes not having anyone else to sit with at this new school and the cafeteria was bound to be crazy. My thoughts were quickly cut short from the entry of Clara, Tiffany and Brittany all surrounded by boys.

“Damn it” I said under my breath. They sat at the back talking and laughing with them the whole lesson. Until the English teacher, Mrs Wells told them to be quiet.

At the end of class I packed my books into my bag and retreated the classroom as quickly as I could, hoping they wouldn’t see me. I raced down the corridor to the cafateria. It was easy enough to find you just had to follow the crowd of people going in one direction.

I chose my food no problems and paid. As I turned around I saw three guys waving at me from a table of Jocks " Christie, come over here".

I casually wak over to them and sit down between Chase and a guy named Robby as they start talking about the summer sports they're going to play.

"I've decided I'm playing rugby Union" says Robby.

"No. why would you do that rugby league is much better?" replies Chase

"Okay, deal. I'll do rugby leaugue with you" says Robby happily

"What sports are you playing Christie?" Asks Chase

"Um, I've decided to do softball, soccer and basketball, just to start and then next year i'll do them and swimming, athletics, cricket and maybe touch if I have time" I say excitedly

"Wow, can you do any more sports????" asks Chase

"Yeah, but I don't think Luke will let me do any more than that, I'm allready pretty busy with school"

"Who's luke?" asked Chase

"My older brother, He's very protective" I answer

"When do you play basketball???" Asks a guy on the other side of the table

"What are you going to go cheer her on????" Asks Chase quizically

"Yes actually and all of you are coming with me" Says Mike
