There are exciting times ahead

With a rare skip in my step I made my way to my dearly beloved, Simon. He was gorgeous: my dark, mysterious, glistening, sexy...

Ford Fiesta.

Okay so maybe Simon only glistened by the murky droplets caused by the very English weather and countryside terrain, and maybe my lack of a love life had significantly lowered my standards of 'sexy' but Simon was in my eyes a true beauty. Who could resist the stained beige leather interior? Okay don't answer that.

'Ophelia, get your lazy ass into Simon before I take him away and have an affair!' Bawled Esme, my best friend now turned the other woman. Before I could even think about rolling my eyes I was launched into the drivers seat, the door slamming painfully behind me. I cringed, checking Simon had not been damaged and turned to glare at the she devil sat beside me.

'That was...' I stuttered,
'Yes?' She prompted, her face mocking,
'That was, it was... Not very nice.'

Wow well done Ophelia you are most definitely one insult away from starting a war. Esme stared at me, obviously struggling to comprehend the sheer pain she had felt by my lethal insult.
'I have no words' she whispered staring despairingly out of the car window in disappointment. Sighing, I started the engine and drove us in awkward silence to school.

'I must say this girl intrigues me' I outspoke my thoughts to the hungry minds of underworld leaders behind me. My hands placed firmly on the stone cold edge of the balcony overlooking the depths of shadows and mist interrupted by the occasional black of a tree, the underworld. Behind me were sat the four most influential beings, sat upon black spiralling thrones with hues of red and gold threaded into a crown like structure above their heads. The flicker of a dying flame dimly lit the balcony from which they ruled their kingdoms.
'Why did you choose her?'
'She has the ability to be truly happy, her heart may have been heavy with darkness but it hadn't yet consumed her making it more... fulfilling when we have to rip it away from her in a years time.' The low menacing melody of Nepthys' voice sent chilling shivers up my spine. I liked it. 'I can see it now, the light escape her eyes like a burnt out flame, the warmth of her skin burn out with it leaving her grey and lifeless. Her happiness is temporary and her heart is a time bomb ticking away slowly until it reaches zero. Ooh I fidget in anticipation.'

Yes, I thought, 'there are exciting times ahead.'

Dashing through the corridors I weaved in and out of the army of students, being late was something I had acquired a skill to and unlike others it was not very useful. Reaching my P.E lesson and breathing a sigh of relief I composed myself before entering on time with the last bell.
'Miss Winters I see you have learnt time management over the summer, perhaps this will reflect in your lap times?' Mrs Fractchet ask amused. The class let out a synchronised groan at the mention of running.
'Outdoor kits on we're going outside' she screeched. Apparently she hadn't noticed she was no longer partying in Ibiza and the weather was in fact typical of England, raining.
Although this lesson should have been a form of medieval torture I found it quite the opposite. The rain was refreshing, the wind was freeing and the running felt like I was releasing a summers worth of gloom from my shoulders. Apparently my improvement in arriving correctly had influenced my lap times.
If the rest of the year was to be like this then, well, there are exciting times ahead. Turning my head my eyes came into contact with someone, he caught my attention immediately. His grey eyes looked as if they had seen the world and his dark furrowed eyebrows gave him a look of intellectual ability. I suddenly found myself growing very self conscious, my arms crossing over my body with insecurity and my head bowing, blanketing my face with my hair.
'Ophelia babe, stop ogling over the new guy and get your ass into the changing room' my dearest most reliable friend Esme proclaimed , a lot louder than I had hoped for.

With one last glance I took in this mysterious boy's appearance and turned away, but not before I saw his eyes flash a recognisable teal.

'You're late by... 2 minutes and 15 seconds. All the proof I needed to know you are in fact on drugs' Leon said dashing into my room like a maniac. His face resembled only what I could describe as a mad scientist on crack.
'How is my 2 minute and 15 second lateness a sign that I'm doing drugs?' I argued doubting his twisted logic.
'Well you have to get your drugs and that takes time and therefore the time that it took you to leave school and make your way to whatever dodgy backstreet you're dealing on, take the drugs and come back home would consequently lead to your very apparent lateness.' He crossed his arms over his chest, his eyebrows so far up his forehead in confidence I thought they would grow wings and fly off.
'So you think it would take me only 2 minutes to contact this supposed, 'drug dealer', drive to the dodgy side of town which is in fact the whole other side of town, take the 'drugs' and come back here.'
'You missed the 15 seconds'
With that I pushed him out of my room and slammed the door and, feeling accomplished, sighed and went back to my reading.

'Leon, dinner!' I shouted , serving the extremely homemade and nutritious chicken nuggets onto the table. I immediately knew something was wrong. Leon always, always comes down for dinner. Just as I left to investigate I heard heavy breathing and a painful slam of the door.

It was Leon.

It was Leon who was soaked from head to toe, with a bruised face and covered in glitter.
'Leon?' I questioned ensuring I didn't get too close.
Without a single hesitation he raced upstairs and screamed,
'I will find you out!'
and with that I took my chicken nuggets and proceeded to watch super nanny in hopes of finding tips of taming my deranged older brother.

A/N
Hi guys, so this is my first story 😁
I've never really written longer pieces before, I tend to focus on shorter and more descriptive writing but, I'm kind of enjoying this and I apologise profusely if it is a load of crap.

But, if you do enjoy this I would really appreciate votes and comments, of course I'm not forcing you but it would help. Also any ideas for plot of improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Sooo I'll let you get back to whatever it is your doing, have a nice day 😊
