"Emmy, just get over here. It's a surprise. A good one. I promise."
"I just wanna know where we're going.. And what we're gonna be doing.. So does my mom." The phone started to slip out of my grasp as I struggled to shove my shoes on. Hair fell onto my face and the sweat on my forehead caused it to stick on my face. "God damnit!"
"You'll find out once you get here. Just hurry!" My closest best friend, Sabrina, yelled at me through my while iphone 4. Then the line went dead. Thanks for the specific details, Bri.
"Are you staying home or going?" I turned around to face my mom.
"I'm going. Let me just get my bag." I sighed and began to think to myself. 'This is a good thing, Em. This is good for you. You need to get out. Be social. After all, you owe it to yourself after what happened with-'
"No." I stopped myself from thinking about him. "Not today. Don't ruin this night for yourself." I ran my fingers through my messy hair and made my way out the front door. My mother sat in the car, already waiting for me. The air outside had that wet rain smell, but it still had the humid arizona feeling. Hopefully it was going to rain..
"Do you have any idea where you guys will be going?" She turned her head to face me once I got in. I shook my head.
"I have an idea that were going to a friend of Aimee's house. I'm not exactly sure yet." My eyes followed the road as we drove to Aimee's house. Clouds covered the sun just as it was starting to set and you could hear the slight thunder in the distance. "It's gonna rain. Thankfully." I blurted out.
"I see that. It's also in the middle of July." My mom sarcastically replied, keeping her eyes on the road. I didn't bother replying, since I was too busy looking at how fascinating the clouds looked. "Alright baby, you're here. Call me tomorrow when you want to get picked up." She hugged me from her driver's seat. "Also remember you're only fourteen, don't stay out too late." I should've expected her to say that. After saying the goodbyes with my mom, I walked up to Aimee's place. I glanced at the driveway. Her parents' cars were there, must mean they're home..
"EMMYCAKES!" A high pitched shriek came from behind the screen of the front door. I flinched at first, but then realized it was just my now new good friend, Aimee.
"Aimeh!" I smiled as she engulfed me into a hug. Sabrina followed close behind her and next thing I know, I'm being tackled onto the grass in a three-way hug. "I..can't..really..breathe.." I managed to choke out from the grasp I was in. Both of them laughed hard and loud before getting off of me. I met Aimee through Sabrina during the end of my eight grade year. They both go way back before Sabrina and I ever became best friends, which had always gotten to make jealous when they bring up old memories they have together.
"So, are you ready to start walking?" Sabrina put her around around me happily and showed me into Aimee's house. I raised an eyebrow.
"Walk where exactly?"
"To Aimee's friend's house. He lives right down the street. You'll see when you get there." She grinned at me as she threw on her flip flops.
"I think Des is coming too." I heard Aimee mumble cheerfully to Sabrina. I narrowed my eyes at the two with a smile on my face. Seems to me that Aimee has a slight crush on her hands.
It didn't take long until we were already on our way to Aimee's 'supposedly' friends' house. Not long after starting the short walk I began to get very curious of who this friend was.
"Can you guys please just tell me who this friend is." I practically begged them, throwing my head back in frustration. Aimee turned her head to face me, rolling her eyes.
"He's like my best friend." She started, glancing at sabrina. "Besides you and Emily of course. You probably won't like him. He's a beaner mexican stoner."
"Psh, that tells me a lot." I laughed sarcastically.
"Oh yeah! He's the guy who proposed to you in the comments on facebook, remember? Before school ended? You turned him down because you were married to moi." Sabrina flipped her hair dramatically. I felt myself turn a slight shade of pink.
"Oh my gosh, THAT guy?" I heard myself sigh as they both nodded and continued on our way.
But let's just say, that was the night where everything.. and I mean EVERYTHING, began.
