Chapter 22 Ruby Silver

"Gemma the packages came," Adrianna called. Gemma ran to the kitchen wrapped in a towel and dripping wet.

"My uniform?"

"You have time to dry yourself," Adrianna laughed, "and sit for breakfast." Mae (the housekeeper) rolled her eyes at the growing puddle where Gemma stood.

"I'm sorry Mae, I didn't mean to get your clean floor wet," Gemma apologized. She removed her towel, wiped the puddle from the floor and dashed back to the washroom. Mae's response to her sudden nudity was a shocked expression and a slow shaking of her head.

"It's a good thing Mr. James was out," she said.

They sat for breakfast, both wearing long terrycloth robes as Maud served them. "Thank you Maud," Adrianna said, "I love blueberry pancakes."

"Miss Gemma and Miss Eryka picked two bowls full yesterday. Thought I'd put them to good use."

"Is Kay coming over?" Gemma asked.

"Yes, her uniform came too. All the sisters will be over."

"Are we flying today?" Adrianna nodded.

"Excited?"

"Yes!"

"We will go to Grand Isle first, Mother Ruth has a necklace for you, then the baths. We will have lunch at the inn, then come home and fly."

"Ruby is almost big enough."

"Not quite, two or three more weeks. I start my school tomorrow."

"Addie, I'm not sure I want to go to school."

"You would have fun, lots of boys and girls your age, and it's only a half day."

"But what will Kay do without me? And she is teaching me to read."

"Why don't you give it a try?"

"OK, I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work what will happen?"

"You'll just continue with Kay. I think you will like school."

"Did you like school?"

"I never went. I was a pickpocket and burglar when James rescued me. Kay taught me."

"So Kay likes to teach?"

"She is very good at it. You'll do well either way. Just thought it would be fun for you to have some friends."

"I have you Addie and a ton of sisters!"

Adrianna and Gemma dressed in their uniform. Gemma came to Adrianna's room wearing her tight fitting black denim pants and knee high black boots, she had the buckles on the side still open and was holding her white shirt to her chest and carrying the corset and vest. "What goes on next Addie?"

"The shirt, let me help you, don't tuck it in. If you're planning to do some wild flying the corset, if not the vest."

"So I don't need both?"

"No."

"I was hoping for some wild flying today."

"Well, then corset it is, I'll lace you up and you can return the favor. I'm glad you braided your hair, I like the effect." Kaitlyn walked in dressed in her uniform. "I see you're looking forward to a little 'wild' flying too."

"Elodia is leading the group, so I came prepared," Kaitlyn laughed. "Do you know why Mother Ruth called the full coven?"

"Something concerning about a discovery Teddi made."
