Guilt

I folded the piece of paper and handed it silently to Trent. He had a confused look on his face as he read it in the silence of History class.

I was sitting there like a constipated walrus. What if he didn't want to? What if he thought I was a creep? What if he murdered me? What if he hired a bunch of secret agents to track me down? Then kill me?

I over exaggerate when I'm nervous.

I didn't realize, until a few minutes later, that he'd already handed the note back. This was the moment of truth.

That sounds great Chelsea! Sure I'll hang out with you after school. Meet me at the gate.

-Trent

Yes! After months of building up confidence to ask Trent to hang out after school actually turned out well!

I'm the luckiest girl in the world. I silently did a tiny victory dance. This was going to be the best day of my life!

History went very, very slowly, but when the bell rang, I dashed back to home room to tell my besties, Rebekah and Christie, about the great news.

"No way!"

"You go girl!"

"I'm jealous"

"Shut up Christie!"

I cracked up as they squabbled. They were both so jealous.

"Wish me luck!"

Flying out the door, I sped into the bathroom, trying to fix myself up. I let my brown hair fall free from the pony tail as I brushed it a bit.

Next I washed my face, put my hair back up and looked into my dark brown eyes.

"You can do this Chels..." I told myself. With a deep breath, I stepped outside and walked down to the gate.

Trent was waiting for me! It wasn't a prank or a dare. It was true! I put on a cool face, but deep down inside, bubbles of loving excitement were building up.

"Hey." Trent said.

"H-hi." Keep your cool Chelsea. I stared into his green eyes.

"So, where are we going?" he said as we walked through the gate together.

Oh man! I mentally face palmed. I hadn't even thought about where to go. This was going to be awkward.

"Er... well, this is gonna sound real awkward, but I didn't think you'd say yes, so I didn't plan anything..."

He opened his mouth but I quickly cut him off with:

"Please, please don't leave."

He laughed.

"Why would I leave? I'm already having a great time and we haven't even gone anywhere yet!"

I tried to smile, but at the same time I was blushing hard.

"Relax" he laughed again, his hand gently brushing mine.

Holy pug puppies!

We walked for a while, chatting about random stuff. We agreed to go to a cafe near his house where we could get a light snack.

"I don't have any money with me." I felt stupid. I knew I'd need my wallet.

"We can drop past my house and-"

"It's fine. I'll pay for both. Look, we're already here."

We pressed through the doors and grabbed a table.

"What would you like?"

"Err... Maybe a chocolate muffin and iced tea."

I felt really bad that he was paying for it all. It's like boyfriends are made of money- No, I didn't say boyfriend. He's not my boyfriend... yet.

I twiddled with the menu on the table, getting more and more nervous. Does he think this is like a date, or just hanging out? I couldn't ask!

My stomach grumbled. Boy, was I hungry.

Eventually, Trent came back with my muffin and iced tea, while he just had a coffee.

"So... I've been wondering Chelsea. Is this like, just hanging out? Or is it a date?"

*gulp*

Yo, yo yo yo!

This is a competition with LiamsGurrrrl_Xx (follow her!) and the theme is...

Soppy Romance with a Twist!

The twist in mine comes very early in the story, and is very emotional.

Hope you enjoyed the first chapter! It's not the best because I had to rush. I'll probably edit it properly later.

Just a note! No advertising books in comments! There are other places to do that. No swearing or full out criticizing, although I do want feedback.
