I stomped angrily across the top deck with Poppa's girlfriend on my heels.

"Maddie!" she gasped.

"Don't call me that." I growled in response "You are not my family and you are definitely not my friend."

"Please can we at least try to get along?" begged when she finally caught up to me.

"No" I stated point blank.

I can't believe Poppa would date someone like this. She left her son, Baelfire, behind motherless. Why should I want to befriend someone as untrustworthy as her?

"Please-"

"NO! You left your husband because you think of him as a coward when you're honestly no better than him! You were tired of the same old same old so you left your son behind. Because of what? You were mocked for being married to the village coward. You're a coward for having not having a backbone and standing up for yourself. You're a coward for running away from your problems!!!" I yelled and marched off from a now crying Milah.

That night I ate dinner in my chamber all by myself. I was quite peaceful until I heard a knock at my door.

"What?" I snapped

"It's me, Will and I got with me."

I rolled my eyes and told them to enter.

They walked in and sat on the crates that I use for chairs.

"Now Maddie don't ya think you were a little rough there with Milah?" Asked Will

"Nope" I replied, popping the "p" to emphasize my point.

"Ok you may not have a...very good...opinion on Milah but-" started Smee

"Do I look like I care?" I replied

Will's face contorted with emotion.

"You should care!" Will snapped "Captain cares about Milah."

I looked down at my plate of food.

"Captain wants the three of you to be a family" added Smee. "Milah even asked if we could go back and get Baelfire."

"I will never consider her family." I growled "now get out of my personal chamber before I throw you two out."

Will and Smee's eyes got big and round with shock, then the two ran out of my room. That night as I went to sleep all that I thought of was what it would be like to have a traditional family again
