"Are you alright" Marilyn shouts jogging over with Sun at her side. "Ya I'll be alright, but I think we need more time" I reply a shakiness to my voice. "Sky before the fall a weak rear from sun didn't faze you" Marilyn replys. "I know but I'm just so tense and she can feel it" I stroke Suns muscular neck. "Sun is a high strung horse that needs a lot of exercise and attention I honestly think it would be in both of your best interests if you consider selling sun".
"Mom you can not seriously be considering selling sun!". "Sweetheart me and your father have to agree with Marilyn. Your needs in a horse have changed with the everything that has happened in these last few weeks. Sun needs someone who can handle the amount of energy she has". Mom explains keeping her voice soft and cool. "I can handle her! Ive been handling her for years i just need a bit more time! Dad please!". "Sweety this isn't something I wouldn't ever want to do but it's not fair to sun to keep her locked away while you build back your confidence, we can look at getting another horse". I can't believe my dad just agreed to sell the only horse I've ever owned!
I run out to Sun's pasture tears streaming down my face. Closing the gate behind me I turn and throw myself over Sun's large neck. "Im so sorry girl, I'm trying but im scared im so so scared".
I see dad heading towards the paddock but I'm to exhausted to argue. He picks me up like he used to do when I was little and takes me into the house. He lays me down in bed, pulls the covers, says goodnight and heads towards the living room. I glance at my alarm clock and realize that it is a lot later then I thought. Feeling tierd I close my eyes and drift to sleep.
