Then… there was a flash. The bright white light burned through my eyelids. I sat upright forcing them open. Multiple people surrounded my small bed startling me. A man approached the cot.
“Marvelous? Baby? Are you okay?” He spoke with a husky voice that matched the scars on his face. I looked up and scrutinized him. His face had a perfect bone structure, a chiseled chin and sleek cheek bones. The man’s cheeks were flushed with a rose color. Upon his head was a mop of blonde scraggly hair. The final, most wonderful detail… his eyes; they were a gorgeous cyan, reminding me of the ocean.
I was so lost in his eyes, I could only squeak out one thing. “What?”
“It’s Evan, your boyfriend.”
My eyes adjusted to the paintings behind him. There were four; each one peculiar in its own way. The first was of an all white room. A single jet black chair stood in the corner. The second was of a row of yellow and red tank-like containers. The third was a desk caked with papers and writing instruments. The last was of a wooden cabinet that was open, nothing laid inside. Each of the paintings had the same odd detail. They all file with a picture that looked like a child drew it.
I was embedded in my thoughts when a loud voice disturbed me.
“Everyone should get out! Marvelous should have some time to rest.” It was a man in a long white coat.
Everyone scurried out of the room and the door gracefully shut. I snuck out of the covers. My feet hit the floor; a chill ran up my leg and gave me a spine tingling shiver. Taking it one step at a time I reached the end of the bed. A clipboard hung from a thin piece of twine. I picked it up and read it. It was about me…

A young woman grabbed the information from my hands before I could read anymore.
“You should get some rest, sis. It’ll do well for your mind.”
I crawled back into the teal blankets and laid staring up at the ceiling. The clocked ticked in my left ear. Minute by minute the ticks faded into the night, my eyes drooped, and I was fast asleep.
BEEP! BEEP! My arm swung over and slammed the snooze button. Turning to my side I saw it was 2:30 in the morning. I pulled the covers over my head. Anger engulfed my body.
“2:30?!? Are you kidding me? Who gets up this early?”
This thought echoed through my mind until they burned in a raging fire that took over mind. Rotting flesh and bones soon turned to ash. I was in the center of it all, watching everything deteriorate around me. I tried waking up, but I couldn’t open my eyes. It was like something took over my body. The small dream turned to a survival. I forced my way through the fire where I woke up. Little did I know the surprise waiting for me.
A blank, white face hovered above mine. I turned away; the sight of that thing hurt my head. I turned back and it was gone.
“What was that?” I thought aloud.
I let out a sigh of relief, but it was too good to be true. Just as I thought I was safe that thing came back. Jumping back it edged closer and closer… I stared up into the creatures abandoned face. My brain melted into a ball of mush. Then suddenly the wind picked up and started a tornado of papers and dust. The lights flickered like lightning. Chaos rose in the small hospital room. And, like someone snapped their fingers, everything stopped and the creature disappeared. I threw my head into my hands, wetness spread on my face. Blood… Feeling my cheek I find an open wound. I freeze in my place, and without a bat of an eyelash I was knocked unconscious.
