My eyes shot open and I sat up straight in my bed the thick blankets falling to the ground and my heart pounding in my chest. There was loud banging on my front door from a fist knocking on the wood. The knocks were echoing through the house and into my bedroom, the lack of furniture caused noises to amplify in this house. The clock on my nightstand read 2:21am, shock took over in my gut as I realized that Jay could be waiting at the door just so he could kill me. Realization began to sink in, why would Jay be knocking on the door? If he wanted to murder me he wasn't about to let a door stop him.

Slowly I walked down the steps of my stairwell and with every step I took closer to the door the fear amplified inside of me. I kept trying to ease my discomfort but the thoughts were a continuous flow of irrationality. With great hesitation I found the confidence to look through the peephole and to my great relief and terror I saw Reynolds standing on the doorstep. My relief was short lived as I realized he was in complete panic. My hand released the door locks and threw the door open.

"Reynolds! What are you doing out here?" My tone was rushed and held the taste of terror inside of it. Jay had threatened me with Zayne's life and here he was standing on my doorstep in the middle of the night. His life was in complete danger. I didn't know if I should pull him in the house or yell at him openly outside for everyone to hear and see.

"I was making sure you were okay, why are you panicking, you're making me panic more!"

"Why are you panicking?! Aren't you supposed to be the calm one? If you're not calm then I can't be calm." My words were going a million miles an hour.

"Stop freaking out. Take a deep breath."

"Zayne, if you're talking to me then he's going to kill you." I was starting to cry. Whether it be from lack of sleep or just the fear of losing more people to death I couldn't decide, but I was scared.

"What? What are you talking about? I'm coming in." With that Zayne pushed me back into my house and shut the door behind him. That was pretty forceful for a cop, but I brushed it off.

"Who is going to kill me?" Zayne had a stern look with the intent to obtain answers, but his deep blue eyes were filled with serenity.

"Jay is. He texted me and told me if I didn't cut off contact with you that I was going to find your dead body. I'm not even supposed to be telling you, I'm basically signing away your life by having you in here."

"First off, Alana take a deep breath. Second, nobody is going to kill me. Third, why do you still think its Jay?" I stopped talking for a moment and took a deep breath. I was hoping that he was right about not getting killed because I didn't need that on my conscience.

"It has to be Jay, who else would it be?" I knew I was being stubborn about this, but I had it figured out. With Jay threatening me in front of my house, finding his phone on the floor and him being the last person to see Janelle alive it was the most logical solution. Besides that, I felt at peace knowing that I had it figured out, it lessened the fear.

"Alana, I know you want this person to be Jay because it seems like the easiest solution, but like I told you before, it's not Jay." I wanted to be mad at him for doubting my logic, but I knew it was because I didn't want to realize that he may be right.

"How are you so sure?"

"We identified the girl that was found in your car this morning. Pamela Lafayette."

"Is that supposed to mean something to me?" I crossed my arms and stared back at Zayne in complete confusion.

"Another one of Jay's flings. Are you sure you didn't know her?"
