 LUKE ^^^^^^

******

"You can't run, and you sure as hell can't hide." The man with broad shoulders, a sinister grin and a goatee in desperate need of trimming, said menacingly.

One step. Two step. The man was getting increasingly close to where Luke was hiding under the kitchen cabinet, where they stored what little food they had.

Feels like a close, its coming to, fuck am I gonna do?

It's too late to start over, this is the only thing I, thing I know.

Luke tried desperately to find his phone in his, what seemed like one million pocket, cargo pants. He cursed himself for not putting his phone on silent before entering the house. The ringtone was getting dangerously louder and Luke was getting no closer to finding it.

'why do these pants have so many damn pockets' Luke thought to himself as he felt a lone tear fall from his left eye. He couldn't believe he let this happen. HE couldn't believe he allowed himself to get this far in life and have nothing to show for it. Just when he wanted to give up, Luke felt his phone, he did a little a happy dance in his head and said a silent prayer. As he was trying to press the power button blindly, he was ripped from under the sink and thrown against the adjacent wall. Up until then, Luke could hear everything, now he heard nothing. His hearing Aids were busted.

Luke has progressive hearing loss. He had completely lost all his hearing ability. Luke was almost glad. He wouldn't have to hear his so called father bitch anymore. But he would lose his most precious thing. Listening to music it was his escape, his release of all emotion.

"You thought you could hide from me, you thought I wouldn't be able to fine you. Well you thought wrong." Luke coward away from the menacing man. "You must really have a death wish." I want to be dead right now. Was all that Luke was thinking. "I told you I wanted you home by 5, and food was to be ready..."

"I g-g-got off w-work l-l-later t-than I t-thought." Luke couldn't hear himself, but he was content, Luke always had trouble with his stuttering, he didn't like hearing himself, so it was just easier not to speak. But he knew if Jeff didn't get an answer he would get it worse. Reading lips became art for him. But he hated reading his dad's lips. Nothing good ever came out of those.

"I do not want to hear your sob excuses. I want my food NOW." With each word came a blow to Luke's stomach, his bruises from last night were nowhere near healed and he had this urge to hurl what little contents he had in his stomach.

Luke gravely wanted time to fast forward, where he would be in school, even though that was the second to last place he wanted to be. But it was better than home.

Holding on to the little stand next to him, Luke slowly got up and made his way to the kitchen. With each step, there was a pain that was unspeakable.

'My life is a shit storm."

Luke knew there was nothing in the house to eat, there was barely anything to cook. There were two slices of bread, a dried up orange, and a left over ketchup packet in the fridge. And a can of string beans, corn and parmesan cheese in the cabinet above the stove. Nothing, nothing at all.

Luke figured he would just order Chinese food, use his last ten dollars and use the time to clean up the kitchen. He searched 'Lee Wong's Chinese' who apparently had the best fried dumplings and ordered online.

Within thirty-five minutes Luke had Jeff's Chinese food on a plate and the kitchen spotless. He walked in the living room, which was scattered with bud light beer cans and sat the food down on the coffee table.
