As I was driving home I felt anxious. My parents apparently wanted to have a serious talk. At the moment I am only flunking two classes, hopefully it's just about that. It's not that bad.
I mean high schools almost over. Just one more year and I'm out that hell hole. It was fun partying with all my friends and all, but I'm ready for the next step in my life.
Once I pulled up to my house I bit my lip getting out. I made my way towards the front door slowly. I pulled out my keys unlocking the door. I headed into Dad's office seeing that was the only light that was on.
I knocked on the opened door softly catching both my Mom and Dad's attention, "can I come in?"
They both nodded, Mom with a small smile and Dad with his lips pursed into a thin line. I furrowed my eyebrows seeing multiple boxes. My dad was either throwing away his things or moving them to his actual office.
"So what's up?" I raised an eyebrow, leaning back into the cushiony seat.
Mom walked over to me taking the seat next to mine. She rubbed my shoulder softly which made my curiosity grow. This must be serious then.
"Honey, your dad expanded his business." She exasperated.
"That's good!" I smiled brightly.
"Meaning we have to move, Em." Dad buts in.
My smile falters a bit. Moving? Now? When my high school years are about to be over. All my friends and memories here. They've got to be kidding me right now.
"You're kidding." I gulp looking down at the ground seeing my beat up black converse.
Mom shook her head slowly. She tried engulfing me in a hug. But I moved my body away. They were being so unfair.
"I can't believe you guys!" I scream, "how long have you guys known we were moving?"
"A month." Dad bluntly states.
"Why would you keep something like this from me?" I question as tears built up in my eyes.
Dad rolled his eyes earning a glare from Mom. She sighed clasping her hands together. Oh boy a speech she was gonna give to convince me this move was gonna change our lives. But no, it's just for my Dad.
"Tom stop being so mean." Mom snaps at him.
"No, it's rich coming from her." He rolls his eyes.
I knit my eyebrows together. What was I keeping from him that's so much richer then him keeping this from me.
"Oh don't act so surprised Em, you are failing two classes and haven't even tried to fix it." He yells loudly with his breath filling the air.
The aroma of liquor filled my nose making me cringe slightly. He's drinking again. Great, just great with this situation.
I got up clutching my bag with my hand. I absolutely hated them so much at the moment. I never have a say in anything. Even if I'm young they should've at least told me or something.
