I whip my hair back and forth...
----

My head whips back, to where Lucas stands.

He looks better than he did that first day, but he still has bags under his eyes.

"Farkle can we talk?" He glances at Maya and Riley, "Alone?"

Maya goes to say something but is quickly shut up with a flick of my hand.

"Okay," I whisper, following behind him. We sit at an empty lunch table away from all the other students.

"Farkle.. I've been debating if I should say this, and I decided I will. I never meant to hurt you, my dad literally forced me to say what I did. I told him about us, Farkie."

The nick name makes me flinch back, "what do you mean?" I ask, genuinely scared of what he was about to say.

"I'm saying that my dad doesn't accept me. He's a bigger douche than me, and the way I've been treating you lately, is sure as hell saying something. I'm sorry, Farkle. I never wanted to break up with you, I never wanted to do anything for you to doubt me. Will you forgive me?"

I let that sink in, realizing that was why he had such a look of agony in his eyes.

"Yes, but don't think I'll just let you stomp all over me again. I swear, Lucas, if you even dare do this again, I will not hold Maya back."

Lucas laughs, a sweet, genuine laugh. "God, I feel so bad. I should've never agreed to my dad."

I nod my head, the horrible words he had said a month before slowly inking to the back of my thoughts.

"I know this may seem too soon, but I've missed you. I've missed you so much."

"Me too, Lu, me too." I say, my eyes widening when I realized I used a nick name for him.

"Finally! You gave me a nick name!" He grins at me.

I laugh at his childish ways. He takes my hand in his.

"Will you be mine forever, Farkle?"

Should I take his word? He just apologized for everything- for all the pain I've been feeling these past month.

I open my mouth to reply.
