Dan's POV
Ugh! I slammed my locker shut and kicked my foot against the wall. I had just gotten another D on my science paper. My mom is going to be pissed at me. Liz and her group of friends (popular group 101) waved at me as they passed smiling and I gave a gentle smile back. I walked behind them to the cafeteria and my girlfriend Megan came towards me."Hey cutie," she smiled with her emerald green eyes glowing.
"Hey," I said quietly.
"What's wrong?" Megan asked lifting up my chin.
"I'm just.. I don't want to talk about it," I said while I started walking again.
"Are you sure?" Megan asked chasing after me.
"Ya, I'm sure."
As soon as I got my lunch I went to go sit down with Megan and some of our friends.
"Hey guy, where have you been all day." James asked as I sat down.
"Somewhere." I said quietly.
"Where's somewhere?" Justin asked curiously.
"No where, I'm great." I answered lying of course.
Today I had been in the nurse's office and the guidance counselor's office. I've just been really stressed out lately. I started kicking and punching walls, scratching up my hands. The nurse tried to convince me that I had a sprained ankle but I just stormed out because I think I would know if I had a sprained ankle or nah.
Then my phone started ringing. It was my dad. Great.
"I got to go guys. See you later," I waved to everyone. I quickly walked towards the back of the school and answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Dan. I got a call from your guidance counselor saying that you've been in there all day with him. What's going on?" my dad said obviously mad.
"Oh nothing.."
"Daniel!"
"Whoops, I got to go Dad. Bye!"
"Dan I swear.." I cut him off. He's gonna be furious when I get home.
*timeskip to the end of school*
I closed my locker and started heading towards the front doors to leave. I waved by to Justin and James was busy catching a Pokemon.
I walked behind the school as usual and there were a few nice dirt trails that led to my street. It was a nice 20 minute walk. It was fall so all the leaves were beautiful and falling onto the ground as I walked forward. It was pretty quiet besides the occasional bird chirp and the leaves crunching beneath my feet.
I stopped walking about half way through and sat down under a tree to check my phone. Then I heard leaves cracking. It wasn't me either. Then I looked diagonal from where I was sitting and there was someone with their back to me sitting against another tree. No one had ever come home on these paths before so no one should even know these were here. I slowly and quietly tried to get up. I slowly lifted up my backpack and slid it onto my back.
"Hello?" I asked.
The girl jumped.
"Oh geez, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I ran over to her and oh my god. This girl was beautiful. She had dirty blond hair that was pulled back in a loose braid. And sparkling caramel eyes.
"Oh hi," she said shyly.
"Um, are you okay out here?"
"I don't know. I'm fine, you can just go," she rushed.
"No, seriously, are you lost?" I asked sincerely.
"No, I don't think so, maybe, I don't know." She said obviously stressed out.
"Here let me help you up." I said reaching out my arm. "Do you need to talk about anything?"
She just nodded her head no.
"By the way, I'm Jemma." What a pretty name I thought to myself.
"I'm Dan." I said as I led her towards my house through the trails.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about anything?" I asked again.
"I'm sure." she said looking at her feet.
