“Ugh, I cannot wait to change out of these clothes!” As the bus pulled away I practically ripped off the jumper I had on, leaving me in just a singlet and jeans. “Can’t VA just get its own bus?”
“Ayla, you and I both know that VauntelAcademy doesn’t care if we have to share a bus with humans. They care about making us into little doggy-warriors.”
I grunted in agreement and we started off down the path towards what we liked to call the ‘Hound Hall’. It was basically just a humongous rec room where the werewolves hung out before classes. There were two white couches surrounding a TV with an Xbox, an air hockey table, over in a corner of the room was a pile of downy pillows and changing stalls. Apparently they were trying to get in a snack bar, oh gosh would that be heaven for all of us wolves that attend VA. There are three packs in total that attend the DenverAcademy, which means I’m not the only Alpha in training here. This means there’s a lot of dominance in the air whenever we’re around each other. Ash and I made our way into the changing stalls and pulled the curtains closed.
Dropping my backpack on the floor I kicked off my boots a wiggled out of my jeans. Peeling off my singlet; I unzipped my bag and traded the stuffy, warm clothes for more practical ones. Werewolves have a higher body temperature than humans, which left me melting in the baggy jumper and jeans on the bus. I pulled on the spare shirt I packed into my bag this morning. On the front it had a picture of the band LinkinPark printed onto it, and a sigh of content left my lips. Next I tugged on my denim short shorts and slipped my feet back into the black, stylish boots I wore nearly everywhere. Stuffing the horrible singlet, jumper and jeans back into my bag I pulled the curtain along the metal bar and walked out. Ashlynn was already waiting for me, leaning against the wall. Some guys from another pack were playing COD on the Xbox and looked up as the hall’s door swung open. Aiden walked through shaking snowflakes out of his hair. He looked up and as soon as he saw Ash a glowing smile lit up his face. Aiden and Ash were mates; they couldn’t be matched more perfectly. Aiden loved to play the guitar, and Ashlynn loved to sing.
I turned to my friend with a smirk. “I’ll go find my locker; you and lover boy get re-acquainted.” She dropped me a wink and giggled.
I strode out of Hound Hall and made a sharp right. Snow crunched underneath my boots as I looked up at the grey coloured clouds. I breathed in deeply and smiled up at the clouds, the cold breeze caressed my hot blood. I guess I was so caught up in enjoying the moment that I didn’t see where I was walking, which was by the way, straight into someone. A grunt escaped my lips as I stumbled back a step; I looked straight ahead once more. My eyes narrowed as they landed on the platinum blonde in front of me. Sabrina Richards was the mean; popular girl every school just had to have. As she swung my way I caught her left eye twitch, just once, as she realized who had bumped into her.
“Watch where you’re walking dog.” She bared her teeth at me as her fangs slid out of their sheath.
I could feel my canines begin to sharpen as I bit back a snarl. “Guess your so called ‘vampire abilities’ haven’t set in then, since you didn’t move fast enough. How does it feel to be the slowest vampire Sabrina?”
Ever since the first day of the first year, Sabrina and I had hated each other. It might have just been natural instinct, but somehow, it felt like more than that. Her brown eyes sparked with anger and she let out a low hiss. Her hiss set off my anger and I bared my sharp canines at her and let out a growl. The hairs on my neck rose as I saw her muscles tense. I felt my lupine form lash about, trying to come to the surface. I watched my enemy with careful eyes, waiting for her to lunge. She shifted to the right and came flying at me, tackling me to the snowy earth. Sabrina raised her hand and brought it down fiercely; aiming to scratch my face. I raised my arm up to protect my eyes and roared when I felt her nails dig into my flesh. Red started to rim my vision as I saw two droplets of blood snake their way slowly down to my elbow. I clenched my hand and swung upwards in an arc, a satisfying crunch sounded through the air as I made contact with her nose.
