Helaina Brindley stared at the emormity of the Hogwarts Express. She thought this day would never come, in fact she didn't even think that it would have been possible for her to live this long. It was completely unlikely. Her parents were always bringing the others to the house, and she never knew how to keep her mouth shut when it came to politics. She didn't bother allowing her thoughts to dwell on that for long, though, she was much too excited. She looked to her father, a tall blonde. She looked nothing like him, she looked much more like her black-haired mother. In fact the two were almost identical. They both shared the same electric-blue eyes, pale complexion, and tall height. Her little brother, Adam on the other hand looked almost exactly like their 'uncle', the man he was named after, Adam. Adam Lane was a stocky brunette, he had shaggy brown hair, deep brown eyes, and was the average height. The only difference that the younger, Adam Brindley, and the older, Adam Lane had was the eyes. Adam Brindley had the same electric blue eyes as Helaina and their mother. The only family member that looked nothing like the rest was Jacob Brindley, the children's father.
She took a deep breath in and waved goodbye to her parents and little brother. "Be good." She smiled at him. He smiled back at her dissapearing back. She pushed her way through the other various students and smiled, excited at what this and the next couple years would bring. She noticed that she was the only student that had an eagle instead of an owl, and was fine with ithat. Being diffferent wasn't always a bad thing, now. Was it? She managed to find an empty compartment in the train, which she didn't completely feel comfortable with, she typically liked being with at least one other person, unless she said or needed otherwise. She waited a few minutes and a tall blonde boy, he seemed like a sixth or seventh year, came stoming in and looked to see if anyone was in the compartment. He frowned when he noticed Helaina. "I thought this compartment was empty." He said, not even bothering with an apology, which didn't upset Helaina much, she was used to a lack of apologies with her upbringing. The boy left Helaina without another word. She took a breath and waited to see if anyone else would come in. Eventually a girl, probably a first year as well arived.
"Hi." The girl said shyly. Helaina couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the girl's looks. She had dyed pink hair, a short, almost sickningly revealing mini skirt and more make-up than a clown at a muggle birthday party, something she had only seen once, and hoped would never again. "I'm Rose, Rose Tylette." Tylette? What the hell kind of last name was Tylette? Helaina kept this thought to herself, and her face as straight as possible. "Mind if I sit here?" Without waiting for a reply from Helaina, Rose Tylette sat down. "I'm a transfer student. From America." Helaina resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Tylette must be an American name, and pink hair must be in fashion there. "My parents wanted me to come to Hogwarts because it's supposed to be cool. Like a really freakin' cool and good school. Know what I mean?" Rose was talking faster than anyone Helaina had heard before, and with an accent she had never heard before. She nodded, mostley because she was at a loss for words, but also because she just wanted to hear more of what this girl had to say. "Well anyways, right when I got sent here, to England I mean, I found out about this war and I've been hiding out for a couple days, waiting for this train to come and stuff. Did you know that You Know Who is trying to make sure muggle borns are like exterminated or something? I mean that's horrible!" Helaina's heart and stomach dropped. Her mum, dad, and dad's best friends all supported the Dark Lord, and honestly so did she, or at least as much as an eleven year old could.
Desperate for a change of subject Helaina asked the most simple question she could think of. "So do you know which house you want to be in?" With any luck this conversation wouldn't be led back to that of politics. Of course for Helaina, luck was of short supply.
"Gryffindor. Or Ravenclaw. Or Hufflepuff. Anything but Slytherin. I think I'd just die if I was sorted into Slytherin. Did you know tat Slytherin is supposed to be the worst house? Apparently even You Know Who was in that house. I would never wanna be in the same out he was in."
