Chapter 1

•ALONZO•

"ALONZO!! VENIRE QUI ORA!"

"Mom I'm going to be late for work"

"Ho detto vieni QUI ORA!" I go to mother who is seething with anger..

"Why did you fire my Cleaning Department Head?" She asks.

"She wasn't fit for the job, so I let her go... I don't see what-" She smacked me so hard I flew against the wall of our huge kitchen. Although my mother was a very short woman standing at 5'2 and I standing at 6'4 she still has the same Italian hands she did when I was younger..

"She was our best employee, Alonzo and since you want to fire my employees you aren't accomanying me to France this year!" she says with her heavy accent.

YESS!!! That's what I was going for! I never liked going with her on her little getaways... I rather be accompanying a stunning beautiful woman.

"Well thats great..." I mumbled

"And lucky for you I'm leaving now. Simon! Please get my bags and put them in the Maybach!"

"Yes, right away ma'am"

I could tell that he was happy to see her leave too. As for me I was jumping for joy, although she's my mother, she is a very annoying woman. So I was looking forward to being alone. As for finding a new head of the cleaning department, I guess I'll have to do some digging.

"Alonzo!" mother said snapping me out of my thoughts. "I said goodbye. And you better have a department head by the time I come back. E lei meglio essere un gran lavoratore."

"Have fun, and relax, I will find one mom. Love you." I say as I get into my car and drive away to work.

I think I did forget to mention that I im the CEO of one of the wealthiest journalism firms in the country. It was the family business and I was the only heir, and I fit perfectly. I honestly love my job and it satisfies me. But lately I've been feeling a void, but I don't know where it's from... it's just, there. Even though I have everything I need, I'm still lost...

Later That Day

"Mr. Peligrino, you have a call on line one." My assistant says. I pick up the call and see who it is.

"Hello, this is Mr. Peligrino."

"Hi, I'm calling for the cleaning services ad you just put up online? I was wondering if I could apply.."

"Of course, I could e-mail the application to you or you could come by my office"

"Okay.. What time should I meet you?"

"Would 5 be okay? And then, I could get your interview over with once you fill out the application. Is that alright with you?"

"Yes that would be fine with me. Thank you Mr. Peligrino. See you soon."

After I got off of the phone, I get the application prepared and then walk around to see how my employees are doing.

"Good afternoon Mr. Peligrino, when do you want that story for the NY Times?"

"By next Thursday the latest, by the way do you have the time?"

"Yes sir it's 4:53."

"Wow time went by fast. Thank you" I make my way back to my office and as soon as I get back my assistant calls and tells me I have someone coming up. Then in a matter of seconds there was a soft knock at my door.
