Rᴜɴɴɪɴɢ. Tʜᴀᴛ's ᴀʟʟ I ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ʜᴀᴅ ɪɴ ᴍɪɴᴅ right now. I didn't even have a weapon to defend myself. And right now, school didn't actually sound so bad right now.

"Ahhh! Get the heck away from me!" I yell at the lion/goat/snake-whatever thingy that was chasing me. I just wanted to take a detour on the way to school but no, fate doesn't want that, now does it? But I'm still running, and end up on the sidewalk. "Hey, watch were you and your friend are going!" Someone yelled at me. A-hem, friend? That thing is a monster! I'm almost to the school when I stop hearing pounding footsteps behind me. I turned around to see that an arrow has went through the side of the monster. Now there was a pile if golden dust where the monster was and I was just left so confused. So I decided not to take anymore detours. That might be a smart idea.

So I ran to the building in an empty hallway. I got to my class and sat down. I was in the Greek Mythology class, with a teacher in a wheelchair named Mr. Heyt. Then he finished his sentence. "Miss Kaia, why are you late today?"

"I—" It wouldn't make sense to say: Oh... I got chased by some mythical creature on the way here. No biggie. Nah, I didn't think so. So I just said, "I had to take a detour."

Good enough, I told myself. Then Mr. Heyt told me to go sit down, but I knew that he knew I wasn't giving the whole truth. When class was over, I met my friends in the hallway. "Oh hey Kaia!" My friend Eli said to me.

"Yeah, hey," I said, still feeling off from that run this morning.

"Something's wrong," he said.

"Oh, it's nothing," I lied. "Me and my mom got in a little fight so I was late."

He looked at me like he didn't believe me. "But don't worry," I said with more confidence. "It wasn't bad at all. I just lost something for the billionth time so... yeah. What's up with you?"

"Ok, I'm just going to pretend that your right and—"

"Eli!" I raised my voice. "I'm not lying!" It was true. I lost my bookbag so mom got into a fit. So it was the truth, but not the truth. If you know what I mean...

"Ok, ok, let's get to math." My least favorite subject. Once a problem said, "9a•n=a6•3a," and I thought it said, "Pancakes." PANCAKES PEOPLE! In case you didn't know, I have dyslexia, and ADHD. So math, I HATE YOU! If I'm sure about one thing, it's this: I am never going to use math in my adult career. That would suck. I mean, I don't think I'm gonna get a good job when I grow up. I'll probably become a waitress or something... Wait, what were we talking about?

Oh yeah, whenever I go to math, the teacher actually likes me. Unlike all of the other retarded teachers. That's the only class I kind of like, because of the teacher. Oh, and I like the mythology class too, but I think it messes up my mind. But what if . . . LOL no. But today just sucked.

I sat down in my usual spot with Eli, since, quoted by someone, to me, "You're such a weirdo no one wants to talk to you." That lovely quote was by some person named Kelli. So Kelli, go die in a hole, please? She's the head cheerleader, in the eighth grade.

But when I got into class, there was a different teacher. I asked Eli if he knew the teacher, but he said she's been here all year long. Well, I can tell you, something is definitely wrong here.

"Kaia Johnson, answer the question already," Ms. What-ever-her-name-is said impatiently. How'd she know my name? Wait, I've got something . . . maybe she's a monster-stalker-thing that that's trying to kill me. Or she could be like those aliens in Doctor Who that are in these people-suit things and trying to kill me so I don't save people's lives. GASP! That would suck. I really need a Tardis to see what they want from me. . .
