Rian's P.O.V. ~
Rian walks into the classroom and immediately spots the five "it" girls of high school. Brook, gossiping with Caitlyn who isn't even paying attention. Brook's family buying a new boat isn't nearly as interesting to her as flirting with a boy sitting across the room. The third member of the $quad, London, is in the back of the class talking to a girl, who is incredibly intimidated. Elizabeth is writing in a notebook, when a scream is heard.
Elizabeth: His family doesn't even have four bathrooms in his house! How pathetic!

Everyone's attention is turned towards Elizabeth for a few moments until everyone returns to their prior activities. Brandy, sitting on a desk, continues flaunting the island her family bought her for her birthday to the small crowd surrounding her.
The morning bell sounds as the teacher enters the classroom. Nobody bothers to notice. In response to the rowdy room, he makes his way to the front of the class and whistles sharply. The loud noise causes everyone to shift their attention to Mr. Primina.

Teacher: As some of you may have noticed we have a new student. Rian, why don't you come up to the front and tell the class and teach us a little bit about yourself?
All eyes follow me to the front of his desk. I stand there, quite awkwardly.
Rian: M-My name is Rian Isobel Palmer and ... Ya.
Teacher: Where are you from?
I look around and notice the $quad girls smirking at each other on my behalf.
Rian: A small town in Italy...
Teacher: How about your interests? Any sports?
Rian: Does speed reading count?
Some kids chuckle between each other at the back of the class about my being a 'nerd' and 'dork'. I can't help but turn bright red. The professor allows me to return to my seat and I happily do as he says.
The rest of the class passes by in a blur and I soon enough find myself in the cafeteria for lunch.
I look over at the five most popular girls all sitting at a table. They're laughing loudly about something. I see one look up and put her finger to her lips. She motions at me and says something, but I can't hear it clearly enough. But they all stop laughing and look at me once again. I pick up my lunch tray and sit at the table behind them as it is the only empty one. They start to giggle again and this time, I can make out every word spoken.
Caitlyn: She's such a geek. Did you see that blouse? Hideous! And the way Elizabeth tripped her this morning, genius!
London and I lock eyes for a moment, but I break the stare to pick up my tray.
Sitting on the lid of the toilet, I finish my first lunch of high school in the second stall of the girl's washroom.
