My hands moved gracefully along the black and white colored keys, matching the tempo of the metronome ticking on top of the smooth surface. I closed my eyes, exploring deeper into the song, slowly swaying myself back and forth towards the piano. Eventually I had ended the song, opened my eyes and sat back into my normal position.
"Good," Mr. Kim, my piano teacher said. "But not good enough. Go grab the sheet music for the following song. It's located somewhere upstairs, in my room." He pointed to the staircase as I nodded my head.
I walked up the stairs and moved my fingers around from all of the playing. They were extremely exhausted and I felt as if I couldn't move them again. I've been playing for more than two hours already, and I still don't seem to get through my pieces correctly. I walked into Mr. Kim's room, decorated with different photos or paintings of landscapes; some also by Picasso, or Van Gogh. I opened the wooden drawer that was directly next to the king-sized bed, and flipped through all of the papers to find the specific sheet music for my next piece. I had finally found them, closed the drawer, and made my way out of the room.
I walked along the hallways observing the different statues I was passing by. Suddenly, I was distracted by the young girl who was on the opposite side of the hallway. I tilted my head to get a better look, but I remembered that I had to get back to the piano. I walked slower from the thought of playing for another hour.
As I went through the stairs, I was startled by the sudden touch behind me. It was her, the girl who I saw earlier across the hallway. She seemed as if she was dazing off.
"Excuse me," I said. "Go ahead." I moved my hands in a motion so that she may proceed down the stairs. She slightly nodded and formed a slightly-curved smile, making her way through.
I returned to the piano and set my hands on top of the keys. As I began to play again, I looked out of the window to see her walking into the garden, touching the flowers smiling brightly. I was completely distracted by the sight of her long locks, and Mr. Kim tapped me on the shoulder, making me realize all of the mistakes I was making; no crescendo, legato, and the wrong notes.
After the hour was finally over, I bowed down to Mr. Kim and greeted him farewell. I knew I had to ask him about the girl tomorrow.
I woke up the next morning and left for school. I despised school- not for the academics, or the environment, but mainly the people. I held on tightly to my book bag as I walked into the limo. I shifted myself into a comfortable position and thought about everything that was going to happen today. If there was, I already know where to go- Mr. Kim.
When I finally reached the destination I least wanted to be, I already sensed the strong presence of them. They were waiting for me, as always. I ignored them and walked to the side. All I wanted to do now was go to my class safely. But I was stopped by the tug of my book bag strap. I turned around- which I regret doing. He threw his fist across my face, throwing me to the ground. I touched my cheek that now had a deep cut revealing. I gave up. I immediately got up and ran towards the opposite direction of school. Mr. Kim.
I knocked on his door and he opened it, a bit shocked.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" he raised an eyebrow.
"I--"
"Don't say anything," he interrupted. "I can already see the cut on your face. Come inside."
