The clacking of the boots symbolizes her fears. Which isn't necessarily the bully. But more what the bully says. She just wants to be liked and accepted. But no matter what, people thinks she's weak because of her mother killing herself.
The stuffed lion represents bravery. That no matter what happends happends, she can over come it. She dose this for her mother.
And finally, when she is told her name it wraps it all up. Her name tells her she has a place in the world.Thank you for reading this short story. I wrote this for school last year, but I decided I wanted to tweak it and share it on Wattpad when I heard about the Wattys. I hope you enjoyed reading about Maria and her lion.
Thank you!
