Ash's POV
The principal stands up in the podium. "And now, our final recipients of their diplomas, Mr. Ash Ketchum, and Miss Dawn Berlitz!" I walk up to the principal first and he hands me my diploma and shakes my hand as I say thank you. Dawn does the same.
"One final word before you wonderful graduates go off to college, congratulations, and may good things come to your future."
Maybe he should have said 'may good people come to your future' also. Because I had no idea the wonderful people I would meet.
I'm finishing packing for college and I put one final item in my box. A picture of me and my step-parents and step-sister. I fold the box and tape it shut before bringing it outside and putting it in the trunk of my car. I walk back into the house up to my dad, Giovanni, and my step mom, Johanna. My step sister Dawn is in the car waiting for me.
"Love you. Mom, Dad," I say, embracing them.
"We love you too, Ash." Mom says.
"We're taking off. We'll be back to visit for a while on break." I say, breaking the hug.
"We will be waiting, boy." Dad says with a smile.
"Okay." I smile back.
I walk out of the house and put on my shades and step into my car.
"Took you long enough!" Dawn complains.
"Shut up, sis." I say playfully punching her arm.
"Ow! Just go already. We don't want to be late." She says scrolling down her Instagram.
I put the car in gear and pull out of the drive way and speed off.
