You didn't think that Bakugou would have the actual balls to ask you out. You didn't know he was interested in girls in the first place. You thought he was gay. He says he's only doing it to make sure you don't do anything stupid again. It doesn't matter to you. You were happy.
"Thank you, Bakugou."
Your words drew out a blush from deep within his heart and you teased him about it all evening. You also received your first kiss that day when he pressed his lips against yours to shut you up. It was awkward with it being more teeth than lip, but you just figured the two of you were just nervous as hell.
You didn't know how to repay the hothead for what he did. He wasn't the best boyfriend, but he was trying really hard to make sure you were in a comfortable place.
He walked beside you while holding your hand, being careful not to explode against your delicate hand.
He carried your bookbag to and from school every day.
He refrained from swearing as much as possible around you.
He showered you with small gifts every now and then, ranging from candy to small pieces of jewelry. You couldn't be any happier than you were now. Finally, finally, things were starting to look up.
And then everything began to crash back down.
It was your final week of training before the Sports Festival and you were stuck in a rut. You couldn't increase the range of your fire nor the temperature of your flames. It was stressing you out until the thoughts began to kick in.
'You suck ass at this. Why did U.A. accept such a loser? You don't belong there. You're better off not participating in the Sports Festival.'
And so you did exactly what they said. You called in sick today and spent your day under your blankets, watching reruns of old cartoons. You haven't texted Bakugou all day and so when your front door nearly exploded off its hinges from your violent boyfriend, you immersed yourself in the covers to avoid his wrath. You hated when he got mad. He had this evil aura around him and he looked like he would tear you apart. You knew he would never do that.
"[Y/N]! Why the fuck haven't you answered any of my texts?!" Silence. "Oh, so you're ignoring me now! I'm coming in there and I might just beat some sense into you!" You peeked your head out of your bedroom door and watched as Bakugou angrily scooped you up and pulled you to his chest. "Idiot, why didn't you respond me all day? I was going to ask if you wanted to train with me for the festival next week."
Hearing his request made you want to cry. "Katsuki... I'm not going to participate in the Sports Festival. I'm too weak. I can't do it." You sniffled and hid your pathetic face in his neck. "I won't impress any Pro Heroes and I'll end up making a fool out of myself."
A light tap on your head ceased your rambling before you carried into your room. "Now, you don't have a choice in the matter. Change into something comfortable. We're going out. Don't forget your tennis shoes. I'm putting an end to this right now." With that, he walked out of your room and shut the door, leaving you to change and to wonder what the hell he was up to this time.
"PUT YOUR BACK INTO IT, [Y/N]! YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SHOWCASE YOUR TRUE STRENGTH IF YOU DON'T TRY, STUPID!"
Katsuki was working your butt off and you felt your legs wobble. From the moment you left your apartment, you were engulfed in a world of hurt. Katsuki attacked you and from that point on, you were running and attacking when you were given the chance. You ended up at U.A.'s training field, dodging more of his explosions and bringing you to your current position.
You prepared for another attack, but you were thrown onto your back and you gave up right there and now. "If you won't give it your all, you'll never be able to beat me. Not that I'm giving you a chance to do that any fucking way. But, you gotta stop giving up on yourself so easily. You're going to be a great fucking hero when we work on your confidence more." Lifting you into his arms, he sat on the ground and rubbed your sore back as you cried quietly on his shoulder.
Of course, Katsuki would be your pillar when you were ready to throw in the towel. He continued to push you past your limits then whispered encouraging words in your ears when you were feeling useless. Lifting your head and giving him a big smile, you wrapped your weak arms around his neck and gave him the tightest hug you could muster.
"You believe in me, so I'm not gonna give up. Thank you, Katsuki. I can become a great hero!"
"About time your head is screwed on right, you fucking idiot. Now, get the fuck up. We're not fucking done."
With new resolve, the two of you stood and began training once more.
Once the two of you finally finished with sweat drenching you to the bone, you were finally being carried home by your loving boyfriend.
"Nee, Katsuki?"
"What?"
"I love you."
"... Shut up, [Y/N]."
He slightly turned his head to see you sleeping peacefully on his back, your cheeks flushed a bright pink.
"I love you too, stupid."
You swelled with glee every time he caught you when you seemed to be slipping.
