The Unwind Accord was finally lifted on a plain November day. Some laughed, others cried, and the AWOL's who still remained- mostly- whole were in shock. No child would ever have to fear the dreaded word "unwind" ever again, because as far as the law was concerned, unwinding was now illegal.
There would still be illegal camps and unwinding of course, and there would still be those who looked the other way, but legally no child would ever be taken apart ever again. Unwinding was finally seen as murder.
With unwinding gone, all that was left was to pick up the pieces. In a society that was recovering still, things were still always changing. The months to follow after the Unwind Repeal were much like the months after the Dark Ages as they were shifted into the light of the Renaissance; confusing, angering, but beautiful and wonderful nonetheless.
Hayden eventually got his dream of being on the radio more often after what he accomplished, for without him, who knows if the stand against unwinding would've been so great? Each of Hayden's broadcasts still end with "Stay whole" as tribute to those who had reached a "divided state".
Lev was finally at peace. He stayed on the Rez except for rare occasions when he would visit Miracolina, who lived happily with her parents now that she had found her purpose to live. Lev was still the same old Lev, except he would always remember that he brought down the moon.
Una eventually married Camus Comprix a second time only a year after the first wedding, where she had only married his hands that were not his hands. They were happily dysfunctional together, living and sharing hopes and dreams despite everything that they had once lost.
Grace and Argent Skinner would cross paths again many, many months after all that had gone down. Grace was now a successful partner at the same company that now made the 3D printing of organs possible and she spent her money wisely most of the time, and somewhat foolishly at other times. She enjoyed buying games. Mostly board games but sometimes she would splurge and buy a card game or two. She even bought video games now that she could afford them. Argent, on the other hand, worked with an agency devoted to stopping the parts pirates and harvest camps that remained. He vowed that the last unwinding he would allow to come to be would be none other than the unwinding of Nelson, his former two-faced partner. Two-faced in a literal sense of course. And he did in fact take back his own face when it came out on the other side of UNIS.
Finally, Risa Ward became Risa Lassiter. It was a beautiful day. The ceremony wasn't too fancy, but the vows were perfect. All of their friends attended, especially the ones who were formerly destined to be unwound before Connor or Risa saved them in some way.
Society had realized the errors of its ways thanks to the Akron AWOL, the smiling musician, and the clapper who didn't clap. The process known as unwinding had, in a metaphorical sense, been unwound itself.
So, to you my reader, I have one final thing to say to you. Stay whole.
