It was a cold and miserable day. A day like no other. Actually, it was pretty close to usual..

I was at school, the day it happened. The bell rang and everyone pushed and shoved to get down the stairs. Someone even fell down a few stairs, luckily the stairs were carpeted. He still broke his finger though.. I wonder if he's okay..? Poor kid, he was in my class, one of the top students.

The day it happened was March 25th 1998. The whole town  was flooded, one of the worst flooding's the city had ever seen! It started off as a little pitter-patter then it got heavier , thunder started rumbling, the black clouds rolling in. There was only a little amount of lightning that didn't last long, thank goodness.

Everyone had to be evacuated but I stayed behind. I don't understand why, even to this day I still don't. But I had this feeling, as if, if someone was still trapped somewhere in the building. I raced back up the stairs, and to my astonishment, there he was, trapped under a fallen beam. I tried to save him, I swear I tried my hardest! But I-I.. I just.. I couldn't.

I had to get out. I swam to the exit doors, I got out and the emergency crews came. They rescued the boy and he was taken to hospital.

It still brings back memories, painful ones at that. My whole class was staring at me, me in tears, just thinking about what happened all those years ago.
