'School fucking sucked.'
Even more so when they kept it going after high school.
That thought kept repeating itself over and over in Ricky's mind as he walked up to the front doors. Today was the first day back from summer vacation and he was hoping no professor would make the asshole move of assigning homework right off of break.
The young male put his cigarette out on the steps underneath the outlawing sign, before jogging up to his group of friends and he noted the shifty look on Vinny's face. "What? Did something happen?" Ricky's eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the other. "U-uh no I just..didn't do my summer assignments?"
Ricky rolled his eyes, he could call bullshit on that so fast since Vinny never did his homework and would always laugh the fact off He decided it would be best to drop it and turned his attention to Chris and smiled some before tilting his head momentarily. "Hey."
Chris smiled and nodded. "Hey...did you finally sleep last night?" Ricky rubbed his neck and laughed slightly. Thinking back on how he had kept the taller up with sending random videos that seemed way funnier than they actually were. "For like 30 minutes but then I had to come to this hell ho-"
He was about to speak when a car caught his eye, it looked exactly like his ex's car but it couldn't be. Ryan moved away last year to Texas to follow a welding job or some shit like that, just away from him. Ricky frowned and pulled his eyes away from the car because of Vinny tapping his shoulder.
"Hey guys let's go inside, it's cold." Ricky's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he glanced up it was pretty cloudy today, seemed like storm clouds. "Alright."
Making their way inside, Ricky felt his lips tug at the corners at the sight of Devin holding onto Vinny in an almost protective way. They had gotten together not long after he and Ryan broke up so of course he had his moments of jealousy but he knew they were truly happy together so he did his best not to give them shit about it at first.
"Everyone already know where their classes are, right?" Chris spoke up before laughing as Balz ran inside and almost tripped over himself. Ricky felt himself grin as he looked at his old friend, it was nice some things from high school hadn't changed.
With a light laugh Ricky shook his head. "I have to go get my ID, I'll see you in class if I have one with you or just whenever." After waving goodbye to his group of friends he made his way through the halls.
His eyes traced over everyone only being able to remember a few and the rest was completely lost on him. "Uh hey I'm here for my ID. I think I misplaced it."
The secretary gazed at Ricky through the top of her glasses and let out an annoyed sigh. "Your first replacement will cost you $5." Taking note of her attitude Ricky inwardly sighed but still dug in his pocket for his wallet to produce the bill. Once out in the open she plucked it from his grip.
He listened to the angry way she threw the things around her desk to get to her keyboard and then get the ID printed. "Try to keep a better track of this one Mr.Olson remember this is college, you will be held accountable more than before."
Taking his ID like she did his money, he conjured up a smile filled with ill will. "I'll keep that in mind miss."
Stopping outside the main office he stared down at his phone to access his schedule. "Biology.." He nodded his head and glanced towards the stairs before making his way there. When he stepped into the classroom he instantly spotted Devin and walked over to sit beside him.
"How are you Ghost?" Ghost was Devin's nickname and they would usually only call him Devin if something was serious or just to poke fun at him. The said male nodded and gave Ricky a light smile. "I'm good."
He wasn't much of a talker but Ricky liked to be around Devin, he kept him calm most of the time and plus he's a nice pillow to lean against.
Ricky did exactly that, he kicked his feet up on the chair across from him and folded his arms over his chest as he leaned against Devin as a pillow. "Wake me up when the professor is coming near us, okay?" Devin nodded and rested his cheek against his palm, looking as if he was going to go to sleep too.
Within seconds Ricky was out and sleeping peacefully until he felt Devin jolt and heard him take in a sharp breath. "What?" Ricky groaned and moved to sit up and opened his eyes to see Ryan standing right in front of him.
His mood shot down and his eyes decreased to slits as he was ripped fully from that moment of peace "What the fuck?" "Ricky I-" The look Ryan received from the shorter made him instantly shut up and hold his breath. Devin watched silently and a few other students turned to watch what was going on.
Like this could be any worse he watched the exact same girl stand walk over and stand right beside Ryan. Devin reached out to hold onto Ricky's jacket while staring at the other in a worried manner. "Ricky..are you.."
Ricky stood up, running his fingers through his hair and went out the classroom leaving his belongings behind. "Fuck you. Why the fuck would you do that?" Devin's voice was filled with anger and hatred as he stood up and pushed Ryan back before hurrying off after his friend.
"Ricky!" Devin looked both ways and spotted the other turning the corner and jogged behind him. "It's okay...you're okay.." He pulled Ricky in for a tight hug and rubbed at his back, taking out his phone to text the others to the best of his ability. The shorter wasn't a mess and crying like Devin had expected but he couldn't tell if this was for better or worse.
Chris was the first there, he rubbed at Ricky's back and did his best to get the other to talk. Finally after a minute Ricky breathed in deep and stood up straight. "I'm alright guys...just go back to class really I'm fine."
Chris studied Ricky's eyes and he knew the shorter just wanted to be alone for now. They all shared looks before engulfing Ricky in a hug, making him laugh softly. Vinny lagged behind and Ricky shook his head before ruffling his hair. "I'm going to be fine Vinny, go to class."
He patiently waited for them to leave before heading out of the school. Ricky made his way to his car and got in, leaning his head back on the chair. As soon as a tear slipped down he began to sob, covering his eyes with his hands as he screamed out his pent up frustrations and hurt that he had harbored. It hurt more that he thought he was over it and fine until Ryan stood in front of him once more.
Ricky felt sick to his stomach and it was hard for him to suck in a breath between sobs. His chest ached more importantly his heart felt shredded even more than before. With shaky hands he jammed his keys into the ignition and started his car needing to get away from everything.
Here comes the hardest part.
