This poem is one that I made after I was assigned in my English class to find an article I liked and create a poem of it. I only did a portion of the article I chose, but it really is a great true story told by a veteran that you might enjoy. Either way, if you'd like to read it then you can find it in the external link. Enjoy!

Four months of training done

From farm boy to soldier

Seattle port here I come

By a single ship we travel

The Far East sixteen days away

4,000 sea sick troops

5,500 miles of Pacific

Mountains, marching, medic training

Traveling to the troubled lands

Its people- lonely, hungry, weak

Its cities- broken, crumbling, deserted

At the front line stands Golden Dragon Infantry

Holding back the enemy

Six months as a medic

Forever now a hero

In 1953 the shooting finally halts

No more fighting

No more dying

Friends are left behind but home is now ahead
