Complication

7th grade.
"Tara, I have to tell you something. I have a crush," Addison says bright-eyed.
"Really?? Who?" I ask with 7th grade rumor curiosity.
Addison looks both ways to check if anyone else is around that might hear her secret. "It's Sean".
We both squeal in giddy excitement. "He's just so cute. He plays soccer, he's so hot, he's so funny, he just has all the qualities I love".
This is true. Sean is very athletic. He plays the trumpet in band class. He is always the fastest runner in PE. He has golden blonde hair and started growing very tall after the summer of 6th grade. Girls started noticing him more.
"Hey look! It's Winnie. Winnie over here! Come sit with us," Addison said. Does Winnie already know who Addison's crush is? Am I allowed to talk about it?
"Hey girls. I am so tired. I need to take a nap" Winnie sighs as she lays her head on her forearms.
"Ugh. I feel you. I have Math first block. Anyways, Winnie I told Tara about my crush."
Winnie's head shoots up. "FINALLY! I've been waiting to talk about this at lunch. Now we can have a major gossip session!"
The bell for homeroom rings and we all head to our different classrooms.

The day passes by extremely slowly. I can't wait to go to lunch and talk about our crushes. Winnie is still into Will and they flirt almost every Latin class since they sit next to each other. Ethan's been nudging me a lot and being flirty in Latin too. Addison just stared at Sean across the room. We're all in the same Latin class. Winnie, Addison, and I made a deal to take Latin so we could take the trip to Italy during spring break this year. It just so happened that Ethan, Will, and Sean were in the same class too.
The bell rings for lunch. We all pack up our stuff and Addison comes to my desk to wait for me so we could walk to lunch together. Winnie joins us as we are walking out the door.
At the lunch table, we sit together and we try to have a private conversation even though we are sitting at a table full of our other friends.
"I saw you being all flirty in Latin with Will," I wink at her. Winnie immediately blushes and can't stop her smiling.
"Tara! Stop!" We all burst out laughing. Winnie tries to change the subject, "Are you guys all packed for the trip to Italy? It's only a week away!!"
I can't wait to go to Italy. We'll be living the Lizzie McGuire movie! I want to meet Paolo. "Yeah. I'm so ready for this trip" I reply.
Addison starts talking about Sean and how dreamy he is and Winnie and I both listen to her go on about it. All of a sudden I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and it's Ethan. He gives me a big hug. I look behind his shoulder and I see Sean's eyes on us. I smile at him and he blushes and smiles back at me.
"Hey Tara. What class do you have next?" Ethan asks.
"History. How about you?"
"English," he makes a disgusted face, hugs me again, and waves goodbye to me.
I turn around and two pairs of eyes were on me. Winnie and Addison grinning from ear to ear. "OOOOoo!" We all burst out laughing.
