The queen smiled as she held her precious baby girl close to her chest. She sighed exhaustedly and closed her eyes.
The castle's nurses left the room and allowed the king to enter.
"Well dear, we have done it. Our first child, healthy as can be." the new mother said with a laugh.
The king smiled and sat next to her. "Mabli, you have done a wonderful job. She will make a wonderful queen someday."
"Indeed she will, Rhodri. Indeed she will." The queen leaned against her husband and smiled as well, closing her eyes.
Little did the couple know, the little girl that had just been born was soon going to turn against her parents. She would leave the kingdom of Acrye, and explore the world with a few friends. She would be wanted by all countries and kingdoms, especially her home land.
She would become a rebellious pirate.

"Mum, dad, look!" A young girl laughed as she jabbed her saber forward at an invisible target. She wore an ocean blue flowing dress that reached mid-calf, the sleeves around elbow length. Her pitch black hair was pulled back with a sky blue ribbon, and she had a bright smile on her face as her dark blue eyes lightened up.
"Dwysil, put that thing away this instant!" the girl's mother practically screamed as the father rushed to take the sword away and put it in the sheath, which had been thrown off to the side.
"But—!" The girl was cut off.
"No 'but's, Dwysil. That is the fourth time this week. We are taking your saber away." The man sighed, running his hand through his shaggy brown hair.
"I was only—!"
"None of those either, young lady." The woman crossed her arms, her emerald eyes fixed on her ten year old daughter. "You are a princess, there is no need to be having a dangerous item like that. You will be married to a brave prince one of these days, and you will have more than enough guards to protect you."
The girl pouted, staring at the ground. She mumbled something under her breath.
"Care to say that to our faces?" her father asked, gently pushing her chin up to make her look at them.
"I was only tryin' to have fun..." Dwysil grumbled, looking into his light blue eyes. "And I don't need any protectin'... I can take care of myself."
"That is a bunch of nonsense. A frail princess does need to be protected." the woman growled. "Go to your room. Now."
Dwysil grunted and pulled herself away, heading down the hall, up the stairs on the right, and flopped back on her bed.
"We need a better mentor. She cannot behave like this if she is going to be queen, Mabli." The king sighed.
"I know, Rhodri. And, clearly, we went the wrong direction with hiring a filthy lower class man. He has even been influencing the way she speaks." she replied, hugging his arm and resting her chin on his shoulder.
"We will work on that immediately, dear. For now, let's just work on putting this somewhere that out daughter cannot find it." Rhodri smiled a bit, kissing the top of her head.
Meanwhile, in Dwysil's room, the girl just stayed. She had no choice. Guards were already outside, making sure she wouldn't leave. The girl sighed.
"My parents don't know what they're talkin' about... There's gonna be a time where I'm alone and no one can help. I'm gonna have to fend for myself at some point..."
Dwysil got up from her bed and stared out the glass door that lead to her balcony. The beautiful ocean looked even more magnificent when the sun was setting. Blues and purples and greens were mixed with reds and yellows and oranges. The whole combination of colors just amazed Dwysil.
She sighed. "I wish I could go out there, see nothing but water...like a..." she hummed quietly as the sun started disappearing and the stars became brighter, the crescent moon overruling them all.
Her thought was completed.
"Like a pirate..."
Dwysil suddenly smiled. "Yeah...that sounds nice. No rules, always on an adventure, no one to tell you what to do..." She giggled to herself. "A pirate, an occupation of which you're free to do whatever you like."
The girl pulled her mid-back-length hair out of the ribbon and tied it around her forehead, careful not to get her thick black hair stuck in the blue ribbon's knot. The ribbon slipped over her left eye, but she didn't care. She skipped around her room, quietly singing a shanty she learned from her mentor.
"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho."Dwysil stared out the glass door again.
"Yo ho... Yo ho... A pirate's life for me..."
