I was up before anybody else, despite my lack of sleep from last night. It was for a completely different reason too. The sound of the morning birds...they were the same. The same melody was being sung by them. Funny, I thought I was never going to hear that tune again. I smiled. Those birds seemed to know where to find me.

I tossed the blankets off of me, and swung my legs over the edge. I looked down at my bandaged leg. I hated this being what slows me down. I sighed sadly and gently touched it. It still hurt, but I am gonna have to wait until it is healed. "Up so early in the morning?" I heard a voice ask.

I look up and saw Rostella, stretching her arms. "Uhmm...it's a habit. Did I wake you up?" I asked.

"No, I always wake up around this time too." She said, standing up. She was wearing a green t-shirt and a pair of black cotton capris. She walked over to me and kneeled in front of me. "I need to take a look at your leg real fast. Then we can see what kind of therapy you need."

"Okay." I said. She gently lifted my leg back to being flat, and she began to take the bandages off of it. I quickly looked away, afraid to see my leg how it is now. When I knew the bandages were off. I quickly shut my eyes. "Jewel, your leg is improving on healing. You can start therapy, but we will have to be extra careful." She said. "I will apply a little bit more medicine, but I won't cover it. The bandages can sow the healing process. The wound needs air." She stood up and went to get the medicine.

I opened my eyes and looked over at her. She was over at a box, and she was looking through it. I then, stupidly, looked down at my leg. It was scabbed over a little, and it was about the size of my hand. Luckily, Rostella came back over and started to apply the medicine. It didn't hurt as bad as it did when she first applied it, but it still hurt. "There, just let that sit and then we can start."

"Thanks Rostella." I said. "Sorry for causing so much trouble with this."

"You aren't causing any trouble for me. Honestly, I like doing stuff like this. I know you know that I lived with a doctor before all of this happened." She said, looking up at me.

"How do you know?" I asked, looking really shocked.

"It isn't a secret to me that you had trouble sleeping last night and were talking to Lora. I honestly couldn't sleep myself, and just listened to you two talk." She said. "Sorry for eavesdropping, but I also heard about how you and your best friend were separated. You really must care for her if you would risk your life to save her from becoming a Captive."

"Well, I knew that the Hakai army couldn't have been good if they were trying capture girls. So I had to protect her from any and all costs. She and I were best friends ever since we were kids." I explained.

"It's good to know that you look after each other." She smiled. "How about we go and see if Zack is awake and has made breakfast?"

"Are you sure it's okay if I walk on my leg?" I asked, as she stood up.

"It's just like my father has taught his patients: You can accomplish more if you start now." She told me, grabbing my hands and slowly lifting me up. I cringed in pain a little on my leg, but I couldn't rely on others to carry me around all of the time. "You okay?" Rostella had asked me.

I nodded and pushed her hands her away. I kept my ground. "I don't need any help."

"Are you sure? You shouldn't push yourself so hard."

"I'll be okay." I said, lifting my foot and moving my leg. I slowly walked towards the door, with Rostella following behind me. I opened the door and looked out into the main room. I didn't see anybody else so I slowly walked and Rostella quietly closed our bedroom door behind us. Walking on an injured leg is more difficult than I thought, and it hurt really badly. "Why don't you head over to the sofa and sit down? I'll go see if anybody else is awake." Rostella suggested.
