*Autumn's POV*
"Best friend, come hither," I yell to my best friend, Shawn. He's leaning against our lockers at school, which are "coincidentally" next to each other.
I say coincidentally like that because Im pretty sure he talked to the principal to get lockers next to each other. We're seniors. In a totally different building. A building called the Senior Center. Funny, right? The teachers a couple years back decided that they would build the seniors they're "own" school. Anyways, back to reality. I have got to stop zoning out. I swear if I do it one more - ugggh, Autumn, stop it.
"Hey, Autumn," He responds but not in the usual happy tone that he always has. He stands up straight no longer leaning up against the lockers,"How was your morning?" He grins.
This time I am not buying it. "Shawn?" I say drawing out the 'aw' a little bit.
He looks up at me as if I've figured out what's up with him. Which in a way I have. "Yes?"
"What's wrong," I ask with as much sympathy as I can manage.
He sighs. "I-I don't-."
"Hey guys!" Shawn's friend, Matt, interrupts. He's walking over here with his girlfriend, which just also happens to be my enemy.
My enemy because I despise her, she literally stole my boyfriend from me, which was, until a month ago, Matthew Espinosa, Shawn's closest friend besides me.
They jog over to us and Matt gives me a hug. It's not an awkward hug because, even though he is my ex- boyfriend, he treats me as his best friend, and I like that. I don't like when things are awkward because then I can't be myself, you know? Im zoning out again. Focus.
"Autumn?" Somebody is gently shaking my shoulder.
"Huh? What?" I come back to reality. I hate it when I zone out for a long time because that means that I get to stand there looking like an idiot with my mouth wide open, and my head slightly tilted back.
"The bell rang. We're going to class," Matt replies sweetly.
I look over to see Matt's girlfriend, Alicia, with a jealous scowl on her face.
I smile and follow Matt and Shawn to our first period, which we have with each other. No Alicia in that class, thank God.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Ooh. you still have feelings for him. Well stop thinking that because I don't...have big ones. I have teensy weensy ones. I just really like to make people jealous.
We walk into our first period together and make our way to our seats in the very back of the room. I end up sandwiched between Shawn and Matt.
The bell rings and the worlds worst Algebra teacher, Ms. Hallott, walks in the room. The day goes pretty smoothly. And normal. Some jock asks me for a pencil and I decline him because he's a jock asking for attention for a girl who has no intention to give him any.
