I awoke to a piercing and buring pain in my back. It was almost like I had fallen backwards into a scolding fire with a bed of nails at the bottom. I sat up quickly and threw my legs over the left side of the bed to go down stairs and find father. When ever I feel like this he gave me this thing. I'm not really sure what it is called, or even what it is. Father calls it my "Yum Tum Candy Medicine". It taste delightful! Almost like a freshly picked strawberry from a garden. When I take it I feel much better! But a few moments later I get all sweaty and weak. That's when father takes me up to my bed and tucks me in.
I make my way down the stairs calling for father. At first I was quiet, but slowly I started to get louder.
"Father? Father...Father! FATHER! FATH-"
I was interupted by a glass bottle being thrown at my bare feet. The shards scattered everywhere. I was a bit scared but I was used to this kind of thing. Just then father put on his glasses and stood up. He was in his scarlet silk robe that mother had gotten him for his birthday 6 years ago. But for some reason it was soiled from some sort of liquid.
"WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT CHILD! I was trying to read and have a drink, BUT YOU HAD TO COME AND INTERRUPT ME! What would your mother think of what you just did? Do you think she would be happy?! Well...DO YOU!"
I looked down at the shards surrounding my feet. I could see the reflection of my angry father in every single one. I took a breath and finally spoke.
"N-no...she be sad. S-she be very sad. You love Serenity still? F-father?"
I looked up at my father with sarrow in both eyes. Soon enough I felt tears run down my cheeks. I bit my lip to keep from crying. I gave up on asking him for the medicine. Just then he started walking towards me.
"Yes I still love you my dear. But you know that you will have to be punished for disrespecting your father."
He grabbed my face squeezing it tighter digging his nails into my cheeks. I bit down on my tounge to keep from squeaking.
"Yes sir...I go change now."
"Don't forget to wear the one I like dear! The pink one with the crystal rose on the hip. You know what one I'm talking about, I trust you. Oh please be quick too! I don't want to wait very long."
I noded my head and dash up the stairs to my room. When I reach the door I give a soft sigh and walked over to my closet. I walk in and go to the 3rd shelf of the right. I move the hanging clothes aside and pull out a small box with a silver rose engraved on the top. Inside was my ballerina outfit from 6 years ago. I haven't grown much for being 16 and all. The only thing that changed was my breast size, so it is alittle snug around the top. It was a one strap pink leotard with a mathing pink tutu decorated with crystals. Mother always loved crystals. Almost anything that was shinny she just had to have! And lastly the rose. I clipped the rose to my hip, laced up my slippers, and put my hair up into a bun. I then walked out and closed my door making my way down the stairs. A few seconds later, I heard Fur Elise playing as I made my way down the stairs. I turned my head to see father sitting in his chair waiting for me.
"Get started my little dancer. I don't have all day."
I took a deep breath and cleared my mind of everything. I started with a arabesque, followed by an assemble. I did a few leaps landing in a turn-out. I could see him in the corner of my eye watching every move I took. It was almost like he was controling me. About 15 minutes later he came up to me, pulled me in by hips, and took my chin into his fingers. He leaned in and started to kiss me. He pulled back.
"You remind me so much of your mother Serenity. Beautiful, graceful, lovely, gental, and so much more. It's almost like you are her. Except she was normal."
I had heard him say that many times over the last few year, but I could never understand what he ment by that. Was it because I couldn't talk correctly? Cause I never learned how to read or write? I was never to sure on the situation. But I ignored it and continued to dance.
About 10 more minutes had passed and father came over once again, except he stopped the music. When we reached me he started to kiss me again, agressively with each breath I took. I tried to push him away, but her just pulled me in tighter. I felt one hand run down my back, the other one grabbing my breasts. I let out a small cry. He then backed away. I wipped my mouth and started scratching my wrists. He pulled me in for a hug, and started smelling my hair. I looked up at him.
"Nobody will ever love you my sweet Serenity. Not like I do. I am the only one who truly loves you my little blossom."
He kissed my forehead and sent me upstairs to go to bed. As my door closed I started to cry. Not because of what just happened, but because I would never be loved. I took off my outfit and put on a satin night gown. I got under my blankets and curled up into a little ball.
"Oh mommy...I wish you were here with me right now. I would really like your kisses and your warm hugs. I want to feel safe again.
She used to tell me, "Sometimes the strongest are the most broken. And the most broken are the stongest."
"I no see cracks on me mommy. I little scratches, that it?" I used to tell her. She would laugh her gental laugh and kiss me on the forehead.
"Not exactly, but don't worry my sweet. You will know soon enough."
That was the last thing I remember her saying to me. And then she was gone the next day. I miss her dearly. I even cry out her name at night sometimes. Sometimes I wonder if she misses me too. But tomorrow is another day, another day closer to seeing mother! Till then I shall sleep till the morning sun calls my name.
