It was Friday night, you slipped into a comfortable dress made of cotton but you still were incredibly uncomfortable. Your palms were sweating and you were shaking, but it almost felt nice to go on a date, even if it wasn't a real date.
You kept going over Emily's words in your head. In the past two days you watched Impractical Jokers to prepare yourself. You had never before noticed how cute Brian was. It almost made you giddy that Emily said you were just his type. You tried to calm yourself, remembering that this wasn't a real date, you were just trying to help out a friend.
You wait until Emily texts you to enter the bar. It was best to make an entrance in that cute dress. As soon as you walk in, you could hear the unmistakable sound of Joe Gattos voice. You figured Brian must be close.
You spot Brian and try your best to not let your cheeks turn red. You nonchalantly walk to the other end of the bar and sat down two seats from Brian. Suddenly you remember that you forgot to put on your Batman necklace. Luckily you had left it in your purse. You quickly put the necklace on without drawing anybody/s attention.
When the bartender asks you what drink you're in the mood for, you make sure to loudly tell him, hoping you'll get Brian's attention. Brian happened to look over and you made eye contact. You smiled and looked away, hoping to not seem like an obsessed fan nor uninterested. Thankfully, he noticed the necklace you just put on.
"Hey, that's a nice necklace you got there. Are you into the comics at all?"
"Oh yeah, I read all kinds of comics. Actually pretty excited since free comic day is coming up."
"Me too!" He exclaimed before moving to the seat right next to you.
"Hey, my name's Brian." He out reached his hand.
"I'm (Y/N). Nice to meet you, Brian." You replied as you took his hand. You were surprised by how soft and warm his hands were.
"Wow, your hands are freezing. Need me to warm them up for you?" He giggled in a flirty way.
You and Brian continued talking for at least an hour. The rest of the Impractical Jokers as well as a few guys who seemed to be crew members began to pay their tabs and get up to leave. Sal touched Brain's arm, breaking his focus on you. Brian could tell by the look Sal gave him that it was time to leave.
"Hey, uh, I gotta leave. He's my ride." Brian said pointing to Sal. "Here's my number, I have no plans tomorrow if you would like to talk some more." He said with a grin.
"Absolutely! I don't have plans either."
You watched Brian as he walked out of the bar. He turned to look at you once more before exiting. You finally snapped out of your daze and pulled your phone out of your purse. You had seven missed text messages from Emily.
"Shit, I'm sorry I didn't realize you had been texting me, Emily. Plus I didn't want Brian to catch on."
"Yeah, that's fine. So how did it go? Did he invite you back to his place?"
"No, he left the bar with the guys but he gave me his number so we can get together tomorrow."
"Shit. Okay." This was the last text message you received from Emily for quite a while.
"Hey, if you aren't comfortable with me hanging out with Brian, I can just not text him..."
"No, it's fine." She said. "I need to know for sure, I need proof that he is actually cheating on me. By the way, see if you can get him to admit to sleeping with any other women within the past four months."
"Ok, I will try my best." This was the last text message between you two until the next day.
You decided to go home and get prepared for tomorrows date. You figured it was best to wait till tomorrow morning to text him back, he was probably already asleep by the time the cab dropped you off at your apartment.
As you lay in bed trying to sleep, all you could think about was Brian. How his hand felt, the sound of his voice, his eyes. You felt guilty that you were starting to have a crush on him so you try to suppress your feelings but it wasn't working. You decide to just enjoy your "relationship" with Brian. After all, it was the first thing to get your mind off of all your failed relationships.
