Anna

She sighed in frustration as another strand of hair fell into her face, shortly followed by the rest of her hair. She shook the brown hair out of her face before letting her arms fall to her sides.

She glared at her reflection and blew a strand of hair away from her eye. The sound of traffic roaring past entered her bathroom threw the open window, filling the small space.

She sighed and just pulled her hair back into a ponytail, forgetting about the bun she was previously attempting. She straightened out her apron before taking one last look at herself in the mirror and walking out of the bathroom.

Her phone buzzed on her bedside table and she quickly jogged over to check it.

Boss: you have 5 minutes to get to work. If you're late again i will fire you.

She swore under her breath and shoved her phone into the pocket of her apron before slipping on her converse and racing out of her apartment.

She raced down the stairs, not taking her chances with the slow elevator, and ran out of the lobby. She ran down the street, apron flying in different directions.

The tiny bell echoed around the cafe as she flew through the door. Her boss stood behind the counter watching the clock as it ticked over to 10:00.

She grinned in triumph as she skidded to a stop. Pumping her fist into the air she yelled, "Right on time!" The customers shook their heads and laughed at Anna's antics, clearly used to her weird behaviour by now.

Her boss just glared at her before stalking into the back, grumbling under her breath. Anna sat behind the cash register, a Cheshire Cat-like grin still plastered on her face.

"Anna, I'm on cash register today. You can take people's orders." Anna turned to her co-worker and smiled. "Alright." She pushed herself off the chair and walked over to a table where a middle-aged woman with red hair pulled back into a ponytail was sitting.

The woman smiled at her as she sat down on the seat opposite. "Good morning, Anna. You know, if you don't start getting to work early Lucy," she cleared her throat, noticing her mistake. "Your boss, will be in a casket." The woman chuckled, her green eyes glistening in the light.

Anna smiled and tilted her head to the left, shrugging. "She loves me secretly." She winked making the older woman shake her head and smile in amusement.

"You really are something Anna." She laughed again. Anna stood up and pointed at the lady's mug. "More coffee?"

The green eyed lady nodded, watching as Anna walked away to get the pot of coffee before returning back to the table. Anna poured the hot liquid into the mug before turning around and facing the other customers who were sitting at the table.

"Any coffee refills needed?" Raising the coffee pot she looked around, her eyes landing on her boss. She smiled sheepishly at her boss when she shook her head, disapproving of her loud voice.

"Over here please Anna." A boy with shaggy brown hair lifted his mug and grinned. "Hey Alex." She greeted as she filled his mug.

"How's school going?" He groaned in response causing Anna to break out into a fit of giggles. "That good aye?" He rolled his eyes but a smile tugged at his lips. "I just can't wait to graduate." She nodded and smiled before walking back to the counter.

Her co-worker, Bailey, shook her head, a small smile playing on her lips. "Everyone in this town loves you. I don't get it, you're so annoying." She giggled and stuck her tongue out.
