A small old bag. Diary, pencil, knife, apple from our garden and mom's purple ribbon. I don't want a job in palace and leave my home but I have to. We have a salon, my daddy was tailor, my mom and sister are seamstresses and so am I. We were sewing for rich ones, lords, judges, expensive dresses and suits, our salon was declared and our businesses went well. But than daddy died and everything changed. We don't have enought money, that's reason of my collywobbles. Our salon is about to bankrupt but we have a little light of hope. My auntie was seamstress, she was working for royal family and she was pretty good but now she's too old and too sick so she can't even walk and also can't sew anymore. That's why I'm here, in forest, on my way to palace, far away from my family. I'm gonna be a new royal seamstress and help my family. Or I'm suppose to. And this is how my story begins...

Regina was exhausted, tired and starving. That nice guy told her, that she's two days far from the palace, when she got out from his small buggy. She was on her way for a second day and her stomach was rumbling really loudly so she come to the conclusion that it has to be lunch time but she wasn't sure. After all, she was hungry all the time and time in royal forests was different, slower. She was walking trought for an hours but she still didn't see king's road.
I'm lost, she thought. Maybe I should turn around and go home. Ugh, my stupid stomach. I had to leave my home because of you so please, stop with this annoying rumbling. Okay I'm not comming home. Now please stop.„Oh, you are so lucky! Just imagine that fabric, velvet, silks, golden threads, trimmings, puffery, diamond needles! Shh, Reggie. Why are you crying?"
„I don't want to leave you, Zel."After few more hours she finally reached the palace. It was much bigger and majestic then she expected. Palace was loomed on the very top of beautiful grassy hill, near by sea. Sky was turning red because of setting sun and palace seemed kinda dangerous.
Regina was scared. She was supposse to sew for people behind this royal walls. But how? She wasn't as good as her mother and sister were, she was the youngest and that was the only reason why she was there, staring at this royal majestic palace with pinnacles and tall towers.I can't disappoint my family.
And with this only thought on her mind she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
„Sweetheart, you won't disappoint anyone. You can do this and royals will love your clothes just like I love you." Said warm familiar voice.
Regina looked around and didn't see anyone. She couldn't, no one was there. But she knew that voice and even when it was probably just in her head, she smiled.
„Thank you, daddy."-∆×∆×∆-
Prince was in his study room, staring at the curtains with the motif of a lion and lily. Lion was a symbol of Sherwood, a symbol of his father's blood line. Lily flower was added to a coat of arms after his parents' wedding like a symbol of his mother's family. He didn't know why he had these symbols on his curtains but he liked the way how lion was tangled with lily. Just like his parents. And this is what he wanted, be tangled with someone who will love him not because of money, not because of empire, not because it's expected but just love him with all of his mistakes and demerits, like his mother loves his father.
„The palace was built on the Green Hill many years ago by king Andrew's great-great-great-grandfather king Roland when his royal palace was destroyed by adjacent kingdom. King Leopold the First and King Roland made a deal and Enchanted forest became an ally of our glorious Sherwood... Prince Robin! We have a month until your ball and when someone asks you about history of this place you can't just tell them 'sorry, I don't know anything about my home'. King Leopold IV. and his family are on the very top of guest-list and they expect that you'll show them some respect, at least by knowing our common history. Take your quill and parchment and do notes!"
Robin rolled his eyes. Sir Notthingham was a bit nervous usually but now, when ball was so close, he was like a walking bundle of nerves. Balls wasn't something unusuall but this one was different. Robin was suppose to choose his future wife there.
„I'm sorry, sir Notthingham but I know our family history as well as you do. Anyway, I don't think that anyone is going to ask me about history of our alliance or our palace. All I'm going to tell them is one simple sentence - I'm prince Robin Andrew William of Sherwood, king Andrew and queen Linnet's son, next in line for the throne and I'm not going to marry your daughter. Easy, right? Now, if you excuse me, I have to go." Robin stood up and left his study room, ignoring his angry teacher.„I don't want this stupid ball. I don't want to marry any of these girls. I want to fall in love, dad. Why -"
„Don't call me like that. When I'm wearing a crown, I'm not your father. I'm your king."
„But I need you..."
„My kingdom needs me too! Now leave. And shave yourself, you look terrible."Robin went to his tower. He knew this cold stone stairs really well but when Will jumped against him, he almost fell down. He endured the fall and frowned. „Ugh, I thought that you're my father. I just practically run away from my lesson. Father will kill me when he finds out. What are you doing here?"
„I'm sorry, mate. We were looking for you. John knows how much you hate this so we thought... what about a short ride on horseback?" Will asked with grin. „Just you and John. I have... Uh... One of my friends needs me because... Uh, you know, that ball... So, uh, I gotta go."
Robin sighed and nodded. It will be nice, escape to all of this annoying preparations of his ball, he thought.
„Why don't you tell me her name?"
Will grinned. „She's the most precious cutie pie and I hate when I'm running late. So if your majesty excuse me..." He bowed and Robin smiled.
„And this idiot is my closest friend. Go, have a great time and tell her that I said hi, whoever she is."-∆×∆×∆-
Old wooden stairs squeaked under weight of her steps. Royal walls with plenty of portraits and other pictures, strait harsh hall. Home sweet home, she thought.
„Stick to the light, lady. If I lose you, I won't come back for you."
Old man with big candle was leading Regina to her room.
„I'm not a lady." She opposed.
„Yeah, but you certainly act like one. You're late, we were expecting you at the morning."
He stopped a head of the very last door and drew a key from his pocket.
„That noises are from stables. I hope you don't mind but if you do, I can't help you so better deal with it." He said as he was unlocking the door. Regina smiled. Of course she didn't mind.„Hey, what are you doing here? This is my place to ride. Better find yours"
„I'm sorry, princess, but I think that this road is enough big for two horses."
„For two horses maybe but I really don't like you. And don't laugh! I mean it!"
„Stop yelling, you're disturbing animals. Be quiet and we will see a deer and his family. See? There they are. And, uh... I'm Daniel, by the way."
„Nice to meet you, Daniel Rude. I'm Regina."Room was little but seemed comfy. Regina put her bag on the table, next to inkwell while old man were lighting all of the candles. She looked at the walls. Sweet paperhanging with lovely flowers reminded her home. Two windows with white curtains, too big royal bed. Everything in her room was too big for only one person. Probably everything in entire palace was. Next to her new bed was a big wardrobe. She opened it excitely and stepped back with amazement. Wardrobe was full of beautiful dresses.
„Wow." She whispered. Regina had her best Sunday dress but it looked like a dishrag next to these treasures.
„Maid will wake you and I will send you my niece Ingrid. She is seamstress and she will show you royal fashion salon. Taylor will be there around seven o'clock with drafts and orders so don't be late. And don't be afraid, seamstresses are good girls. We usually don't have so much work, all of this is just because of prince's ball."Man told her about palace rules and forbiddances and than left her so she could unpack. She hadn't anything to unpack so she decided to explore her new home, part of palace dedicated to sewing.
Autor's notes
This is my new book and I will probably hate myself for writing it because I'm not capable of updating all my stories - including that ones which aren't on wattpad - but I really love this plot and I just couldn't stop myself. I hope you like it, even though this is just a first chapter.
>> Regina won't meet Robin in next chapter, their first meeting will be far more regal.
Next chapter will be longer, more interesting and will include some flashbacks with little Gina, Robin's dance lesson and some more things, hope you'll like it. 😁If you find any mistakes, let me know. I'm sorry for them.
DGUOTS (don't give up on this story) and please, let me know what do you think about that. I love reading your comments.
Love you all ♥
