Winter

My eyes flutter open from having the snow weigh my eyelashes down. They begin to focus on the white and blue, flat square on my wall. "Dome Sweet Dome." That's what the knitted poster said.

The dome was this huge half-sphere with four fourths. One fourth of the dome was the season of winter, another the season of autumn, one was the season of summer, and the last fourth was the season of spring- all of the fourths were separated by a wall, and the walls lead to the middle of the dome which was known as The Center. The Center took care of all governmental business. For example, keeping the Seasons in line. They had like, minions to watch over us. In the Winter colony, where I lived, they were called Elves. The Elves always checked on all households, businesses, and any other place where we, the Winterians, would be.

I sat up and looked around my small living area. The igloo had blue walls and white doors, windows, kitchen appliances, bathroom, and bed. Almost all the living areas in Winter were this color scheme, but half were white igloos with blue furniture. I groan looking at the clock, knowing the Elves were going to be by soon.

I begin to drag my body towards the bathroom to get ready for the day, yet a knocking at my door made me freeze in my tracks.Elves didn't come by my home this early! And if they found me not dressed and prepared for the day, a consequence waited for me.

"Ivy! Ivy, Ivy! Open the door, Ivy!" pleaded a voice.

I sigh in relief. It was my friend, Tinsel. I look out the window to find him wearing his white jeans and blue shirt with white stripes. His blonde hair went over his eyes that playfully glared at me for keeping him out there in the cold for so long. I chuckle to myself and trot to the door and try to open it.

"It's stuck again, Tinsel!" I yell through the door.

"No matter," Tinsel reassured, "I'll just push on the count of-- now!"

The door immediately burst open, knocking me off my feet and landing my butt on the cold floor. Tinsel looks shocked, but begins to snicker at my clumsiness, like he always did.

I ignore him and ask, "So the Elves didn't have a problem with your attire this morning?"

"It was one time, Ivy! One time! I thought it was okay to dress in red and orange, since to me, it felt like it was 'Opposite Season' day!" argues Tinsel.

He plops himself onto my bed. I shake my head. He thinks anywhere he goes, he owns. "Aren't you going to get ready?" he asked.

              "Ready for?" I questioned.

"After the Elves, we're going on an adventure!" Tinsel yells.

"Shh! You might disturb the neighbors!!" I panicked.

"Can you hear me, Mr. Chilly?" howls Tinsel.

I swiftly leave him laughing on the bed, going to the closet to change. I grab my navy blue jeans with white stitches, and my medium-sleeved white shirt. I comb my white hair and brush my bangs longer than the more lengthy pieces.

I walk out to see that an Elf was only 5 igloos down. I eat really quickly and tidy up everything. When I get to my bed, I tap my foot looking at Tinsel, who was sleeping. I push his shoulders lightly and a snore comes out of him. Just then I remembered, Tinsel was ticklish. I devilish smile appears on my face. My fingers become like spiders crawling up and down his legs and arms.

Tinsel begins to shriek uncontrollably and asks, "What was that for?"

"The Elves are coming!" I hissed, "You need to leave!"
