Drabble: Dantana becoming official.
Santana slid open the heavy wooden door.
HOPE YOU ENJOY!
"Well, this is it..." She waved her hand around her loft apartment as she led Dani into her home. She turned to Dani, wringing her hands nervously. "So... do you want a coffee or something?"
"Yeah, a drink would be great. But maybe just a tea? I don't think I could face another cup of coffee after that shift today." The blonde smiled warmly as Santana walked to the kitchen and begun filling the kettle with water. "I gotta say, this place is pretty damn impressive considering that you guys are barely out of high school."
"Yeah well, living in a shabby-chic loft apartment seems to fit with Lady Hummel and Schnozzleberry's romantic delusions of being struggling artists in the city. They're actually painfully meticulous about how this dump is decorated, but I did manage to contribute." She pointed proudly at a beaten up lounge chair that was sitting unceremoniously in the corner of the room, one that she'd dragged in from the street a few months prior. "You can sit in it if you'd like to."
"Oh, ah, thanks, I guess," Dani replied as she eyed the shabby leather chair cautiously.
"But," She smirked suggestively at Santana. "I'd actually rather sit next to you on the sofa."
Damn that girl has got game, Santana thought as she watched the short blonde settle down into green canvas couch, curling her legs underneath her. She couldn't help but stare as Dani reclined back against the couch cushion, her mess of blonde tresses splaying across the green material. She quickly busied herself by finishing making the tea when Dani glanced back over to her.
"And speaking of your roomies, are you expecting them home any time soon?"
"Ah...no, they've both got classes tonight actually." Santana had been daydreaming of spending some alone time with Dani ever since they'd first met, but now they were alone together in her apartment, she was practically paralysed with nerves. She walked over to the sofa and carefully placed their mugs on the coffee table before settling herself into the other end of the couch, shifting awkwardly as she tried to appear relaxed. Dani nodded as she propped herself on her elbow.
"Oh yeah, of course. You ever see yourself going back to school?"
Santana shrugged, "Not really. NYADA was always their dream, not mine. I love acting and music, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life. And I figure New York is a good place to get started."
"Definitely. I mean that's one thing I've learned too, if you're passionate about something you have to pursue it." She scooted across the couch a little closer to Santana. "And there's no such thing as perfect timing. If you want something badly, you should just go for it."
Santana felt her cheeks flush suddenly. Was Dani still talking about her dreams? Or was she hinting at something else?
"I.. ah... yeah, I.. um...agree." Was all Santana could manage to reply.
"So, since we've got the apartment to ourselves, what do you think we should get up to?" She wiggled her eyebrows as she grinned cheekily.
Santana's eyes widened as she shot Dani a look of panic. Her body froze completely, and she tried to respond but only managed to emit a shocked choking noise, making the blonde chuckle.
"San, relax, I'm totally kidding!"
Santana looked down and fiddled with a loose thread on the couch. "I'm sorry. I don't what it is about you D, but when I'm around you I get so nervous and literally forget how to form coherent sentences."
Dani reached out, gently tipping her chin up so Santana looked into her eyes.
"Hey, I'm not that scary. And I really, really like you Santana."
"I like you too, I guess." Santana mumbled in small voice.
"Oh, is that right? Well, you won't mind if I do this then?" Dani chuckled as she leant over, softly pressing her lips against Santana's. Santana froze for a moment before she felt her body relax as the kiss deepened. Her heart began to swell with an overwhelming sense of comfort, feeling Dani's hand gently running through her hair as they kissed sent shivers down her spine. Eventually they broke apart, and Dani finished the kiss with a gentle peck.
"No, I wouldn't say I mind that." She beamed as she looked into Dani's deep brown eyes.
"Well good because I'm kind of hoping to do it a lot more in the future." This time it was Dani's time to blush, as she bit her lip, trying to find the right words.
"Santana, I don't want to put any pressure on you- and we can take this as slow as you want- I know we haven't known each other long, but I feel such a strong connection between us. You are so adorable and I would love the privilege of being able to call you my own."
Santana could feel her heart fluttering in her chest as she realized what the girl sitting opposite her was suggesting, but she repressed her nerves to lean in and respond by planting a lingering kiss on Dani's soft lips, a smile spreading across her face.
"I think I could live with that." She whispered back.
