It's 10:00 pm and my dad will beat the crap out of me if I come home late again. I walk quickly across the dark streets of Chicago hoping to get home on time. My back heavy with school supplies yet my mind is sharp and I have one hand on my knife. You can never be too careful in Chicago. My long brown hair shines in the moon light. Casting my tall shadow onto the ground beneath me. I sneak a look at my watch one last time. 10:25 CRAP! I begin the sprint and soon see my apartment building's shape appear in the street light. Running for my life toward my building. I finally make it to the door and swing it open. One more look at my watch. 10:29 okay elevator. Let's do this! I slam my fist into the elevator and after a few stressful seconds, the door finally opens and I rush in and press close and floor 7. It rushes up. Almost there I sprint for my door. Almost there... I walk in and check my watch 10:30. That was close. Walking to the pantry to grab some chips I hear my father come in,"hey by the way can we make plans to go to the movies tomorrow ?"
"I'm going to the mental hopistal to visit mom tomorrow dad! You can't get me to stay!"
"I'm not trying to get you to stay!"
Bull! "That's complete bull dad."
"Don't speak to me like that!!" Dad shouts.
I just walk into my room without even thinking twice. I grab a marker and go to my calendar and circle tomorrow in a big bold circle after crossing off today. Heading to my mirror I look at the person staring back at me. She has long brown hair and dark brown eyes that look old and experienced yet young. The girl looks tough and strong but sad. I feel like I... No I don't know this girl. She's nothing to me. She's just an image. I turn away and look at a picture of my mom and I. I am so happy and innocent. My mom is matching my emotions and has the same big smile as I had on my face. My mom looks just like me. I wipe the imaginary tears that I was sure would come. I'm too tired to do anything more so I just go to sleep.
