I can't believe Roman won't let me go anywhere without a guard. It's getting on my last nerve. And anytime I've tried to lose the guard Roman gets pissed off, and has me surrounded or not let out of his sight. My only time I can be alone is when I'm with the twins. Dean and Bayley have been staying with me, mainly to keep Roman off my back. "Livia, he's just trying to protect you and the twins," Bayley said, defending him yet again.
"I know, but I can't be cooped up forever."
"On another subject," Dean said, "when are you going to tell him?"
"Tell him what?" Bayley asked.
"She's with child," Dean replied.
""Livia, that's wonderful."
"Not really, it just means I'll be further keep under lock and key," I replied.
"You should tell him tonight," Dean said, "the longer you put this off, the angrier he will be at you for keeping it from him."
"I know, and I'll tell him when I'm ready," I said.
"Tell me what?"
"That I'm going with Dean and Bayley to the market tomorrow. I wanted to try some new recipes in the kitchen."
"Can you two leave us?" Roman asked.
They hurried out of the room, shutting the door behind them. "Why do you insist on lying to me?" He asked.
"I'm not," I said, before he cut me off.
"You think I wouldn't notice. You think I don't know the changes you're going through."
I looked away from him, knowing he already knew. "I just want to have some freedoms, you're keeping me locked I here. You won't even let me go to the market for the Gods sake."
"Because you could get hurt, or have you forgotten what's happened?"
"You constantly remind me, and no, I haven't forgotten, I still have the scar to prove it."
"Livia, why do you constantly fight me on this?"
"Why do you still not trust me? I just want an hour tops to do what I want, but you are treating me like a slave again."
He sighed, running his hand over his thickening beard. "I'll agree to you going if I go with you."
I bit my lip, weighing my options, I mean it's not that I don't want to spend time with him, but he's smothering me .
"Livia, do you want to go to the market or not?" He asked irritation in his voice.
"I do, it's just," I said sighing, "you're smothering me with all of this. I just want a little bit of freedom to do something without someone breathing down my neck."
"Then you can forget about going."
"Then you can forget about coming to our bed."
He slammed his fist onto the table in front of me, "Dammit Livia, I'm trying to protect our family."
"I know," I said quietly, "but you can't keep us locked up forever. Please I just want an afternoon free."
"I'm going with you and that's final. No more argument about this, plus it's not good for the child," he said, reaching towards me.
I slapped his hand away, "Don't touch me. I hate you, you wouldn't even let me go when my fathers dying."
"That's enough, I've done everything I can to protect you and our children, and you will show me some respect."
I rolled my eyes, "Respect? Respect is earned not given, and the way you're acting you don't deserve my love or respect or trust."
His eyes hardened as he leaned down, his face inches from mine, "You will not leave the palace without my permission. And you will be in our bed tonight, and you will do as I command."
Pushing my chair back, I stood, stepping to within mere inches of Roman, saying, "I am not your slave, but that's how you continue to treat me, if that is how you are going to continue to treat me, I will leave with the children. Because let's face it, at least I care about their well being and wish them to be happy, and not living life as prisoners in their own home."
I walked around him, exiting the room, slamming the door behind me. Once on the other side of the door, I leaned back against it, murmuring, "but I still love you."
