"Betsy, come on! You're going to be late  for grad if you keep it up!" My mom called from down the stairs. I had just finished applying the faux eyelashes and mascara, when she started up the stairs.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming down now!" I yelled, then heard her retreat down the stairs to grab the camera. I picked up the black heels off my bed and shut the door behind me as I walked out. Standing infront of the spiraling stairs made me anxious. This would be the last time I walked down these stairs as a high school student, barely of age. The stray hairs had made its way into my face, and as I reached up to put it in place, my wrist caught my eye. I smiled as I looked at the royal blue bracelet my father had given me six years ago before he died. The tears in my eyes, those are of satisfaction. Knowing that in my heart, he's still here with me. I twist it around my wrist , then let me hand drop, watching the bracelet blend into the color of my dress.
I give a long breath, and step down the stairs, halfway down I could hear the start of the 'oh's' and 'ah's', and smiled. Almost all of my relative had camera's focused on me, so mom found it appropriate to tear up, set hers down and run over to me.
"Oh darling, your so gorgeous! Your dad would be so proud of you." She weeped, as she wiped tears from her eyes. I smile politely, and thank her because I refuse to have a breakdown today.
"What time is it Bets? We should probably get going!" I looked over at the clock, 5:45.
"Yes, we should go, like now! We have fifteen minutes to get there!"

"Graduation is a pivital moment in every young successors life. It brings forth oppurtunities, careers, and education for all..." We sat in our seats while we listened to the guest speaker talk for half an hour. By the end, my butt was numb. I turned to the girl girl on my right, I didn't know her well and I only knew her name was Rachel was because we were in alphabetical order and our names were labeled on the chairs we needed to be in, "Can you believe we're finally done?" She looked at me with a blank expression, and said four simple words. "We are never done." She went back to listening to the guest speaker, while I pondered on her words.
Soon enough our row was being told to make way to the side of the stage, and as soon as the last person from the other row was done, our row was started. There were six people ahead of me. I watched as they were called on stage, given their diplomas, bowed, placed the tassel on the right side of their cap and walked off. Rachel had just gone up and I watched her stomp up, grab her diploma, amd walk off stage. Within a few seconds, I heard my name.
'Left foot, right foot. One after the other.' Thats what I kept telling myself as I walked up the stairs onto the stage. I slowly made my way over to the prinicpal and shook his hand, as he handed me my diploma. I looked out into the auditorium and smiled, walking to the front of the stage. I bowed, and then reached for the tassel on the cap, bringing it from the left side to the right side. I heard the audience of parents and fellow graduates break into a comotion of 'whoops' and hollers, and I couldn't help but giggle. I gave another bow and walked off stage. I came down and was immediately greeted with arms around me by my two closest friends, Cailean and Chloe.
"Girl! We did it! We actually made it through high school!" Chloe squealed.
"I know right!" I hugged them both and then walked over to my mom.
"So what do you do know my big graduate?" She asked quietly.
"Oh, I dont know. First, I'll rob a few liquor stores, then hijack some cars, and finally smuggle drugs into the US. Who knows Clyde, I may just knock your socks off!" She gave me her motherly sly look before saying, "Now look here, Bonnie. You have to smuggle the drugs in before you rob cars and hijack liquor stores. See that way if they catch you doing the other stuff, once you get out of prison, you have a job selling drugs!"
"You've drank too much coffee." I muttered. She glared at me and said, "You can never have too much coffee."
