***Jo's POV***

"Joanna Beth you are not going hunting for that mayor."

My mother, Ellen, does not agree with me hunting without the Winchester's. Since my father's death, my mother has been very strict with me hunting. I just want to live up to my father's legend when he was hunting with John Winchester.
That's how he died. John had him in a trap to capture a  vengeful spirit. But the plans changed. My father was ganked by the spirit, and died on scene. John remained her family friend, but my mother never saw him the same again. It took her years to forgive John. When we found out from Sam and Dean that John had died, we were devastated. But, nonetheless, us and the Winchester's are as close as ever.

"Mom, I am perfectly old enough to be making decisions on my own! I am 24 years old! I can take care of myself."

"Not another word Joanna Beth. Now get back to cleaning the bar." Mom said, walking to the back room.

My mother and I have a bar for hunters in the middle of nowhere in Kentucky.

I continued cleaning and picking up neglected beer bottles when the door swings open to the bar.

Someone catcalls and I scoff expecting it to be another drunk old man.

"Joanna Beth, I swear you get better every time we come back," a deep husky voice says.

I hear a familiar chuckle; not from the same person.

Dean.
Sam.
My boys.

I turn to see, sure enough, Dean smirking and Sam laughing at Dean's comment and looking fondly at me. My boys.

They both stride quickly over to me for a group hug. I hug them tightly and laugh. My 5'3 figure dwarfing in-between them. This was bliss.

"Well if it isn't my two favorite men." I said.

"It's so good to see you Jo." Sam smiled, ruffling my hair.

"Is that those Winchester's I hear, Jo?" Mom said coming out of the back with a towel thrown over her shoulder.

"Good to see you too, Ellen-" Dean said, going in for a hug.

SMACK

Mom's hand made contact with Dean's face, leaving him speechless and shocked.

"Did you forget how to use a phone boy? What happened to a phone call once in awhile?" Mom said, sternly.

"Yes, ma'am." Dean said, rubbing his cheek.

Sam chuckled and Mom glared at him. "That goes for you too boy."

Sam's eyes widened with fear.

Mom leaned in and pulled them both in a tight hug. "Sure did miss you boys."

"Would you boys like a beer?" I said breaking the tension.

"Now you're speaking my language, baby." Dean said smugly.

I rolled my eyes and looked back at Sam. He shook his head no and I headed for the fridge.

"What brings you boys in town so late?" I asked, bending down for two beers.

I turned to see Dean nudge Sam and point towards my ass, nodding approvingly.

Sam looked up and coughed, making eye contact with me, "We thought we'd stop by on our way to Maine."

I handed Dean a beer and my eyes widened with excitement.

"Maine, huh? You wouldn't happen to be working on the case with the mayor would you?" I asked and looked at my mother knowingly.

"Uh, yes actually. You know about that?" Dean said surprised.

"Are you kiddin'. That's all Jo has been talking about for three days. She's been beggin' to march herself up there and hunt it herself" Mom accused.

"That's my girl." Dean said, raising his beer and smiling at me.

I popped open the lid off of my beer and took a sip. I smiled back.

Then it hit me.

"Why don't I just go with them to Maine and hunt with the-" I started.

"NO " Dean and Mom yelled.

I was as surprised as Sam was. I thought Dean would be eager to let me go along.

Sam looked at Dean and Mom and said, "Oh, cmon guys. You both know she'll be safe with us."

"Dammit Sammy, stop looking at me with those puppy eyes. They aren't going to work." Dean said, but he was starting to crack.

Me and Sam looked at the two of them.

Dean sighed. "Ellen....if you're willing to let her go...I guess she'll be okay with us."

Mom looked from Dean to Sam to me. She sighed, knowing I'd put up a fight if she said no.

"You boys take care of her. That's my baby you're taking out there." She said, grabbing g me for a hug with tears in her eyes.

We all knew the risk of taking me with them.

I grabbed the duffel I had stashed under the bar and headed for the door. I was stopped dead in my tracks when Dean reached out his arm in front of me, pulling me back to where I was previously.

"Woah woah woah. I have not slept in three days. I get you're excited but we can head out first thing in the morning. Ellen, do you have enough room for two more?" He said, clapping is hand on Sam's shoulder.

"We always have room for you two. Make yourself at home. Joanna Beth, get your guest some food and a beer. There's no sense in being rude now." Mom said, making her way towards the back room.

I wrote the usual for the Winchester's on a barista sheet and handed it to the cook. Then I walked to the fridge and popped open three more beers, sliding two down to the boys.

Sam sat down by the bar and pulled out his laptop from his bag and started typing. Dean sat on the opposite side of Sam and chugged some of his beer.

I decided to sit near Sam with my beer.
"More research?" I asked when Sam smiled as I sat down.

"Just getting ahead before tomorrow. We haven't figured out exactly what we're dealing with yet." He glanced at me and looked back towards Dean's direction.

It was then that I realized Dean was staring at both of us. A strange look on his handsome features. I look towards Sam.
