DRAKE
Oh Danielle, how could you do this to me? I confessed my love for you, I saved your life, I would give my life to you, and yet you repay me with the burns of a broken heart. I will never want another, I will find you, I will make you mine, and I will keep you safe for the rest of my life. I swear it on the Gods.

A powerful bolt of lightening spread through the sky, followed by a thin coating of stardust. It will fall all over the world. Someone somewhere just made a promise so strong, by swearing it on the Gods. I’ve only seen this happen twice in my lifetime, and I feel sorry for the poor sucker who just did it now. Those promises never end well, or so legend tells. I stand before the window, staring out the window at the busy city below. If only they knew what really went on in the world. The stardust shimmers slightly on the ground, before fading, signalling that the Gods have acknowledged the promise. Agreeing that, if the promise is broken, the person will be condemned to live a life of hell for all eternity. Oh, how I would love to know who made that death wish!
DRAKE
My damp trousers cling to my body as I stumble throughthe dark streets of London, I wish I had’ve got my top back from Danielle. Where would she have gone? Does she even know anything about London? Of course she does Drake, she’s a Hunter, and it was probably part of her training. After what seems like hours of aimless wandering, I finally find a small lodge and go in to ask for a room for the night. The plump woman behind the desk eyes me suspiciously for a moment before handing over a key “room 16” she says hoarsely. I don’t blame her for hesitating before giving me a room. I must look a fright! Pink, blistering burns, cuts and scratches, scars covering my exposed chest and torso. Not to mention that I am still a bit damp. The plump woman, who looks even bigger due to her bright orange skirt, to my amusement, is leading me down a dimly lit, brown wall papered hallway. “Room 16” she taps on the door and waddles away. “Thanks” I call after her. I unlock the door and let myself into an equally dim room. There is a small cream coloured kitchen, a greying, torn, two-seater couch in front of an old grey television set, a shower and toilet behind a door to my left and a small double bed in a room to the side. “Well, this will do for the night.” I mutter. I flick on the TV, having to adjust the antenna to get a good reception, and flick to a music channel. With the volume down low, so that the music just floats around the room, I head into the small bathroom and turn on the shower. Looking in the mirror, I think of how I must look to innocent people I pass on the street. Odd surely, maybe a little dangerous. I scrub the dried blood and dirt from my face, carefully reflecting on the events of the past day or so. Standing in the shower, I let the hot water wash away the pain of Danielle. I wish she hadn’t left. I notice a slight tingling coming from my left ankle. I reach down to inspect and see a tiny, intricately woven knot that seems to have been tattooed into the skin. I wonder how it got there, but suddenly Danielle invades my thoughts again, and I am left staring at the ugly battle scars on my hands.

I don’t know what Cassidy expects from me, am I meant to just sit around doing nothing while every other Hunter in the country goes after Kazvin? Surely she knows me better than that! She should know that I am the only one who can find him. He will, no doubt, evade every other Hunter they send after him. But I could honestly just walk out onto the street, saying “Here I am Kazvin, come and get me!” and he’d be there in a flash. She should also know that since he took MY blood, I am the only one who can truly, once and for all, finish him. And, oh how I would love to have the pleasure of doing that. “Now, Danielle, I’m going out, and you are to stay right here, in this very room, for the entire night. Got it?” Cassidy says sternly.
