Today was the day. We were finally going back to Dallas. I hope everyone's okay with my new look. Oh who am I kidding I don't care about them I can't wait to see Zach and Anna. I'm just sitting here in the car waiting for mom to pull up to our new house. When we did I noticed it was right by Zach's house. When she parked, I shot straight out the door and grabbed my luggage. I go to a room and ask mom for it. She agrees and I start unpacking. I go next door with a basket of muffins and knock. Zach opens the door.
"Hello I just moved in next doo--" I was cut off by him hugging me. "I missed you, Zoey," he whispers in my ear. I was surprised at first then hugged back
"Hey I always knew you two nerds would end up together," Caleb says from the doorway of our house.
"We're not losers!" Zach yells. "We're not together!" I yell. We both look at each other. He goes back inside and I walk back to my house.
"Jeez I didn't know it was a touchy subject," he says before coming in and slamming the door.
**time skip**
I walked down the hallway in a apricot dress and heels. Everyone staring at me. I tried to walk as confident as possible. I reached the art room and went in.
"Hey Zach," I say. "Oh hey oh wow. You're making me feel under dressed," he says realizing what I'm wearing.
"Well in five years you grow out of your clothes, This is probably the least fancy thing I have in my closet," I explain.
"Shopping in Paris is a bitch huh?" He asks. "Yeah, expensive shit!" I say. We both break out laughing and Chris comes to the door.
"Who is this new friend of yours?" Chris asks. "You already know me," I say. "I'd remember a face like yours," he says.
"Zoey," I say. "Geek Girl, that's you," he says, "where are your glasses and uniform?"
The coach calls for Chris and he leaves. Then Zach turned to me. "What did happen to everything?" He asks.
"I burned my uniform, dyed my hair, and started wearing contacts," I explain. He nods and runs off to practice and I make my way to science.
**science class**
"Can Anyone Explain The Game Theory?" Our teacher asks. Nobody raises their hand so I do.
"Yes Miss McKessie," he answers. I take a deep breath and stand up.
"The game theory is the study of mathematical models of conflict and cooperation between intelligent rational decision makers. It is mostly useful in economics, potential science, and psychology but also useful in computer science, logic, biology, and poker," I explain and sit down.
**after class in art room**
"Hey Zach how's it going?" I asked him. He seemed to be working on the same thing for five years.
"Fine but I have a welcome back present for you. It was supposed to be a present I would send you but after you moved I stopped working on it, but I started back up and it's finally done," he says taking his canvas of the stand.
He turns it around to reveal a picture. It was a garden that had plants and a tall tree. There was a palace in the back round. White birds flying in the distance, over the orange sunset sky. There was a girl. She was resting on the tree branch. All the life was attracted to her, the butterflies, chipmunks, even the plants looked more alive the closer they were to her. She was wearing a white and green dress. She had gold and blue jewelry all over her body. She was feeding red berries to a chipmunk. She looked happy. A feeling I hadn't felt in a while.
Without Zach and Anna, I felt my life wasn't complete I was finally back and happier than ever. Only one thing could make this day better, I looked over to Zach. I take the picture from him.
"Zach, it's beautiful, I need to tell you something," I say. "What's up?" He asks.
I take a deep breath. "I L-" I'm cut off by Vanessa coming into the room. "Hey Zach, who's this?" She asks. "Vanessa this is my friend Zoey, Zoey this is Vanessa my girlfriend," he said.
I felt my heart shatter into a thousand different pieces. I wanted to drop to my knees and yell why and cry my eyeballs out. The one person who gets me, who I actually had a chance with, gone. He's Vanessa's boyfriend now and I get nobody.
That's how this story ends. Vanessa gets the guy and I'm all alone. The End! Goodbye everyone.
