Your face is caked wih powder and blush.

Your rosy red cheeks are a reminder of what you once were.

You were always joyfull and you would laugh until you cried.

Oh, what I wouldn'tdo to hear your laugh one more time,

To see your crooked teeth when you grinned,

To have your warm eyes looking down at me and telling me,

"Everything is going to be OK."

Looking down at you now makes me want to scream.
Why do they have to make the dead look like the living?
As if you lying in a casket wasn't reminder enough that you're gone.

I keep looking down at you,
Thinking you'll open your eyes and wink at me,
And make this one big joke.
But I guess the jokes on me.
You're never coming back.

I can tell where the makeup ends,
Just below your chin.
A firm reminder that you lying here is only a mask,
A mask of what you once were.

One more smile,
One more laugh,
That's all I ask for.

I guess all we can ever ask for is more time.
But your battery ran out,
And your clock stopped ticking.
