WARNING. FEELS AHEAD
I highly recommend listening to the song above for the best sensation :)
It's been two weeks since the accident.
You learned one thing about it though; NEVER text and drive.
It wasn't you who were texting and driving, it was your boyfriend Evan.
You met him at a comic con in San Diego three years ago, and it was love at first sight.
You and Evan got engaged a month ago, but it appeared that the wedding would be canceled until everything was okay again.
So there you sat, to the side of the hospital bed Evan was laying in.
He had those tubes in his arm and in his mouth.
You remembered clearly when it happened.
You were at your shared home staring at your pregnancy test which appeared to be positive.
Then got your phone out of your pocket and texted Evan. 'I have to tell you something.'
You didn't got a reply back which worried you, since he normally replied to you within five minutes.
You tried to call him but you couldn't reach him.
After an hour, it could've been longer too, you got a call.
But it wasn't Evan, it was his mother. 'Julie, is Evan with you?' You had asked her worriedly.
There was a crippling silence at the other side of the line before she spoke again. 'We're at the hospital, he had an accident Y/N. You have to come fast!' And then she started crying.
Apparently Evan hadn't seen the car in front of him and crashed into it, frontal.
So here you were, sitting next to him, Evan was in a coma.
You talked to him, everyday, hoping he could hear you.
You didn't even had a chance to tell him that you were pregnant.
And you started crying when you realized that maybe that chance wouldn't even come.
You had spent almost every day in the hospital, you slept in the chair for two weeks now.
Julie came by every afternoon around 1, she'd bring fresh flowers for her son everyday.
Then she'd sit by you you for an hour, then go back home.
It was the same routine every day but you kept telling yourself he's be okay.
Today, a nurse came into the room, checking the monitor Evan was attached to, then check on you for some reason.
Normally she'd leave again after asking you if you needed anything, but today she didn't.
She turned around towards you, a deep sigh leeving her pink lips as she looked at you and took a step forward.
As she opened her mouth to speak, she closed it again and took a step back, fumbling with her bracelet.
You knew something was not right. 'What's going on?' You asked, your voice was hoarse from not talking for so long.
'Uhm, I got orders to tell you something.' She said softly.
'Okay?' You spoke softly.
'Uhm,... Miss Y/L/N, I know the past few weeks have been very rough for you. But you are not aware of this, when you decided to sleep a night at home last week, your fiancee had a heart attack, we reanimated him and got him through it, but...'
'Why didn't anyone tell me this?!' You asked, raising your voice.
The nurse swallowed thickly before continuing, ignoring your question. 'The only thing keeping Mr. Peters alive at this moment is the lifeline he is attached to, the doctors wanted to give it another two days, but four have passed now and they decided to shut the system down tonight.'
'What?! No! They can't!' You were a mess right now, and you were crying again. 'Please, I... I can't let him go, we were supposed to get married next month! I... I am carrying his child.'
The nurse held your shoulders as you cried hysterically, she had tears in her eyes herself. 'I am so sorry, I wish there was more I could do.' And you knew she meant it.
Then she walked out the room, closing the door behind her.
You collapsed onto the chair, tears streaming down your face like a waterfall.
Your hand held his, your other went through his messy bronze locks. 'Babe, I don't know if you can hear me or not, but I love you okay. I love you so goddamn much, Evan. And... I'm having your baby, you would've been a good father. I know you woul've been.'
You cried and cried until Evan's parents came in and made a hopeless try to comfort you, both of them crying theirselves.
It was 7PM when the doctor walked in, shook hands with the three of you and finally calmly shut the system down.
It was as if nothing even changed, as if only the tubes were removed.
It was as if he was just asleep, he looked peaceful and calm.
The most painful thing was that he'd never wake up.
And just like that, your entire future looked blank.
