A Famous Burden

WHAT!! -ch.3

"Hello ladies we have some visitors today, who are looking for a daughter who is between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, although those who are younger today will not get to meet the visitors, I ask that you do not get discouraged you will all find a loving family. Anyhow, ladies who are older will move to the dance hall in alphabetical order and the rest of you can head to your rooms. Thank you ladies your dismissed" Jenna finished with a peachy smile that made me want to barf.
" what!" I whisper to Candy who looks a little bored. We stand and head to the dance hall.
" whats got you spooked its not like they are going to pick us" Candy say's obviously not worried, while i'm freaking out.
"But there's always the chance" I say running my hands through my hair.
"Maybelle stop worrying just be yourself that should send them running" she laughs at her own joke, I have no idea how she can be so light hearted at a time like this, but I still muster a small smile and an eye roll for her sake. We reach the dance hall and get in order and wait. I'm standing next to Candy cause our last names both start with J. I'm so nervous I'm biting my nails short.
" maybelle will you stop that it's so annoying, it's gonna be fine you weren't adopted last time its not gonna happen this time" she tries reassuring me, it helps a tiny bit.
"alright ladies you will meet these visitors by going one at a time to my office to talk to them, I want you guys to be honest and kind, thank you" Jenna smiles and states calling names. I already knew the drill. I've been through it a hundred times and was only adopted twice but sent back, because they obviously chose the wrong girl. But I never let it get to me.
I kept telling myself I get to go back to the only person I care for, and thats Candy. She's been there for me from the beginning, always sticking up for me and keeping me out of trouble. We meet when I was transfered from my old orphanage I can't remember the name it was so long ago. I was 5 when they transfered me to this orphanage. Candy was seven and we instantly bonded. I was always getting in trouble and Candy was their to protect me.
"Maybelle!" I hear Jenna say and I feel warm hands griping my arms.
"What" I say and look to see candy looking at me, holding my arms.
"Sorry, I zoned out" I say quietly. I look around and see everyone staring at me.
" maybelle your up" Jenna insists. 'Oh right' I say in my mind. I smile at Candy and walk to Jenna's office to meet my fate.
I stop in front of the door. I take a deep breath and smooth my hair. I knock on the door and here a female voice say "come in" I open the door and see 4 boys and 1 woman.
"Good Morning" I say quietly, they all smile.
"Good morning, um we just have a few questions for you sweetie" the lady says.
" okay that sounds fine" I say nicely, I'm trying to be nice, that is until they give me a reason not to.
"You can sit, darling"  one boy with curly brown hair says.
"Thank you" I say sitting across from them.
"So, whats your name?" the blond boy asks.
"My name is Maybelle Jane JohnRay" I say simply.
"You have a beautiful name, my name is Cheryl, and these boys are Niall, Liam Harry and Louis." she points as she say's each name.
"Okay next question whats your favorite band?" thats an odd ball no ones ever asked that.
" my favorite band is Green day" I say smiling with pride.
" what's your favorite food" the blond boy called Niall asks.
"Umm chicken Alfredo" I say, as he scratches his chin mumbling "good choice"
"Do you have a best friend?" Louis asks smiling.
"Yes her names candy, you'll meet her next. You'll like her shes a riot" I say smiling.
"Awesome, maybelle what's your favorite thing in the whole world?" Liam asks.
"Um its more than likely food and music." I say honestly.
"Great your perfect" Niall says laughing, he has such an adorable laugh it makes me want to laugh too.
"Whats your hobby?" Harry asks.
"Umm drawing and I like to cook" I wasn't gonna tell them I like to sing. Then they'll ask me to sing.
"Ooh cool I like cooking too" Harry says smiling.
"Uum Maybelle just to throw this out there do you know a band called One Direction?" Cheryl said smiling. I rack my brain and come out empty handed.
" no I'm sorry, are they important to you" I say, I feel like I live under a rock, gosh.
"No don't be sorry it's fine" Louis smiles.
"Its just we are One Direction" liam says smiling.
".....what! That's Crazy" My jaw drops.
"Yeah I know but we just wanted to know if it were okay with you if you lived with a big famous band." Liam say's.
"Are you kidding that would be so cool" I laugh.
"Its just their will be paps and fans fallowing us everywhere" Louis said smiling lightly.
"Oh right, I don't think they'd be a problem" I smile. God no ones ever asked me wether or not I was okay with being adopted.
"Well thats good I think that will be all for now love" Louis says with a wink, they all stand, and give me a hug witch was so weird, never been hugged at an adoption meeting.
"Welp, see ya later darling" Niall says while hugging me.
"Goodbye Niall" I smile.
They all wave me bye as I shut the door.
