4th of July

Emil didn't know why he was so worked up. He couldn't have been because of him right? He was just another foreign exchange student. Nothing special. And yet...Emil just knew that Kaoru was different. The way his face lit up when he saw Emil, his excitement whenever he learned something new, his thirst for knowledge, and the way he drove Emil insane with something he had never felt before. Emil told himself not to get attached and he had went and done it anyway. It was his fault he felt this way about Kaoru. And now he was gone. Emil knew the whole time that he would go back to China, but he never thought it would be so soon. He was alone again. With that same empty feeling in his heart. Along with something else, something that burned him from the inside out. A desire unlike nothing he ever felt before. He wanted Kaoru. He needed Karou. And Emil didn't know what he was going to do now that he was gone. He couldn't just go back to the way things were, after feeling the feeling of love. The feeling that wouldn't go away. The feeling when your heart pounded everytime you looked at that one person. Emil had it bad. The one sickness he promised himself he'd never get. Lovesick. And Emil hated himself for it. He hated that he never properly said goodbye to Kaoru. He just stormed off when he told him he was leaving. He was sure that the other boy resented him for it. Emil leaned against the wall of the building and slowly slid down it. His brother and the others were also on the rooftop but watching the fireworks and paying no mind to Emil. Emil was glad for this when the tears started rolling down his cheeks. He hugged his knees against his chest and for the first time in his life, let himself cry. He felt the pain that he had been feeling in his side sharpen but he didn't care. The pain in his heart was worse. He was seeing black spots now. He saw a pair of feet and looked up to see Karou. He smiled weakly. "Of course I would dream about you..." Then his eyes rolled into the back of his head and Icelandic saw no more.

Kaoru was numb. He couldn't feel anything. He could barely even feel Yao's arms around him as he hugged him and whispered reassuring words in his ear. He couldn't feel Kiku awkwardly pat his head on the other side on him. He could barely even hear a sobbing Feliciano whom Ludwig tried desperately to comfort. All he could feel was emptiness. And suspense. He had to know what was going on. He had to know if he was okay. And with a glance at the Norwegian sitting across from him, he could tell that Lukas was feeling the same pain as he was as his Danish boyfriend, Matthias tried to hug him but Lukas kept pushing him away. He remembered that horrible moment when he saw Emil pass out. How he desperately did anything and everything to wake him up. How he had yelled at the others to call 911. How scared he was that he would lose him. That fear still hadn't dissipated from his heart. It didn't until the doctor walked out of the room with a smil on his face did Kaoru relax. Him, Lukas, and Matthias instantly jumped up and walked over to him. "All went well. You got him here just in time. He will need to stay overnight for observation though." Karou felt a huge weight being lifted off his shoulders. Emil was alive. "Would you like to see him?" The doctor asked and Lukas and him instantly nodded. They walked into the clean and sterile room and Karou finally let out a sigh of relief when he saw Emil in the bed, his chest rising and falling. "Little brother...I was worried." Lukas murmured. 30 minutes later Lukas and Matthias said that they were going to get some ice and that they would be back shortly. Karou instantly nodded, wanting some alone time with the Icelandic. Once they were gone, Karou took Emil's hand and kissed it softly holding it. He would stay by his side until he woke up.
