Chapter1
Valerie's POV
"Jeez it's cold out tonight." I muttered to myself while I stepped out from the sliding doors that led to the balcony adjacent to my room. I looked up examining the silky black night sky.
The stars had always intrigued me. When I was a child, my mum and I would lay in the grass and just simply marvel at them.
Each individual star was different. Some big, some small, some brighter than others, and some leaning more towards the dull side. Yet each one was just as beautiful as the next.
I sat down in one of the chairs that had been strategically placed just a few months earlier when Dad had hired some designers to redecorate the house. Slowly I brought my feet up under me, letting out a quiet sigh as I leaned further back into the plush chair.
I pulled out my sleek gold iPhone and checked my recent e-mails, which mostly consisted of numerous people accepting my birthday invitation that they had probably earlier received when they had been sent out today around noon.
I had little to no involvement in choosing the guest list, my Dad's secretary took care of that. Most of the list consisted of celebrities that were around my age that knew my Dad, along with a rather long list of people who attended my school that I could honestly care less about. I had only actually invited three people personally, my two best friends Lana and Logan and my boyfriend of two years, Joey.
Lana and Logan. Those two knew me better than I knew myself. I had met Logan in day-care when we were around three.
Our introduction consisted of a short and rather blunt conversation, starting with myself saying "Why is your hair gold?" and him responding "My mommy made it gold" and that was the start to a lifelong friendship.
Lana. That red headed fiery is basically filled from head to toe with sass and spunk. She's a lot to handle that one. Logan and I met Lana in middle school. You wouldn't have known she was as wild as she truly is just by looking at her. Everyone assumed that she was just a quiet little red headed girl who didn't have many friends, but after Logan and I took her under our wing she became the talk of the school.
I'd be lying if I said we aren't the three most popular kids in the school. Its not like I'm bragging or anything, it was just the truth. I mean it's kind of the inevitable. Lana's mother is, the Michelle Caufield the owner of "Caufield Fasion and Co." which just so happens to be one of the top fashion and modeling agencies out there. Logan's Dad, Calvin Landers, is one of the highest paid actors around and Logan's following in his footsteps doing small roles here and there during school vacations. Then there's my dad, Simon Cowell. I would go into detail, however it would take far too long to name everything my father has accomplished and he's pretty well know so its pointless to ramble on about him.
Anyways, after responding to a few responses I logged onto my twitter to see what was going on in the world.
I scrolled through my interactions, looking over a few of my many mentions.
"@justinbieber: @TheValerieCowell thanks for the invite bud! See you Sunday." That brought a smile to my face.
Justin really was a good kid, he just hasn't been very responsible earning himself a bad reputation lately. I personally believe it's due to his change in crowd, but I don't know them so I don't know if that's actually true or not.
I quickly typed back a response, thanking him and telling him that I would see him then. As soon as I did thousands of new mentions flooded my interactions.
"@TheCowellCrowd: @TheValerieCowell what are you hoping to get for your birthday?!?!?! Please follow x" Just looking at her twitter name brought a smile to my face. It's weird to think that so many people know me just because of my Dad's social status.
"@TheValerieCowell: @TheCowellCrowd Im rlly hoping for a good upcoming year, ya know? New experiences, new music, new people. And a chance to work on guitar :)" I hoped this would satisfy whomever was the owner of the account and that hopefully my reply would bring a smile to their face.
After following and responding to a few more people I logged off twitter and slid my phone back into my pocket and made my way back into my room, where sleep quickly took over.
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Hello people of Wattpad!
I'd like to start of by apologizing for not updating this book when it was meant to be updated. (However long ago that was) I honestly had NO IDEA how many reads a summary could get and I actually forgot about this account until recently when checking my spare email and reading all these notifications. I really don't know where I planned on going with this book, with the plot and backstory and so forth. I'm really not even a good writer (just look at that chapter) Anyways I hope any of you who read this are satisfied with that extremely short chapter, don't expect an update soon!!'
