*Greg and Ash*

"Why'd you take me shopping?"

I heard Ash ask as we walked around the mall, hand in hand. I was happier than a guy possibly could be. This girl was the kind that you always dreamed about.

"I don't know, just fit."

She sent me a smile and I could tell how her eyes brightened up. I knew Ash, she was always the fashionable one of the girls. Taking her shopping was basically her ideal "date".

Ash ran off into every store possible; this girl literally takes the words "shop till you drop". But something about it made her come off as adorable, and I loved every second of it.

"You hungry?"

I finally asked, as we were putting all the bags in the trunk of my car.

"Yeah somewhat."
"Where do you wanna go?"
"I don't know?"
"Ash, please pick. It's your day."
"How about Maggianos?"
"Ok."

We headed off to the Italian restaurant and I knew I had to finally step up my game. Tonight was it, I was finally going to make my move.

We were seated down finally, as we looked through the menus, I couldn't help but look up at her. She was beautiful, her chocolate eyes had a spark in them, that it was hard to not look at her. I don't know why I've never felt like this before, hell, with all the girlfriends I have had, you would think I would've experienced something like this at one point. But not a chance, I couldn't remember any girl making me feel the way Ash does. Something about her just, I don't know man, there's just something special about her.

"You ok?"

I heard her ask, making me snap out of my thoughts and send her a smile.

"Yeah why?"
"You're just staring, like you zoned out or something."
"I'm sorry babe; looking at you makes me lose it."
"Huh?"

I noticed her cheeks became a bright shade of red, causing her to bury her face into the menu; I couldn't help but lightly chuckle as I reached over and grabbed her hand, taking it into mine and lacing our fingers together.

"Don't hide, you're so beautiful."
"Greg, stop, please."
"Never."

As the dinner went on, I knew I had to take the chance, we almost were finishing up and soon enough we'd be heading back home.

"Ash, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, what it is it?"
"It might be a little far-fetched for the night, but I, uh."
"Far-fetched?"

I had my hand in my pocket, as she was scooping up one of the last few bites of the desert on the plate that we were sharing.

"I just, would you, I mean."

Damn it. Why did I think this would be easy? It usually is when I've asked other girls out.

"Greg, what's going on? You're not making any sense."

I took a deep breath and let it out as I pulled the small box out from my pocket, getting ready to give it to her.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

I muttered real fast as I put the box on the table right in front of her. I saw her eyes glance down first but they were definitely wide in surprise. I didn't know how to take her reaction; at least right now. We sat there in silence for what seemed like forever as she opened up the box. She had let out a soft gasp but was staring at for what felt like ages, while I was just waiting to know what she would say. Was this a good idea? Cause I'm starting to regret rushing that.
