A/N: Hey, sorry it's been so long since I've updates, life happens. With 19 college hours in one semester, I've been really busy. But now that the semester is winding down, I've got a little time to write. I hope to update this a little more regularly and possibly start posting Before the Night and maybe Whispers in the Dark soon.

When Gabriella was calm again, she went to class. Tristan promised to be waiting right outside class for her as soon as the period was over. Gabriella walked into class and immediately walked over to Maria who was standing in a group with Kylie, and Emma, a couple of girls in their grade and Isabel, an upperclassman. Gabriella guessed Maria had already told them about her and Tate because as soon as she reached the group, they all went quiet.
“Hey girls.” Gabriella said
“Hey.” they said in unison.
Silence.
“So are you okay?” Emma said, finally breaking the silence.
“Not yet, but I will be.” Gabriella said with a sigh.
Isabel reached over and grabbed Gabriella's arm. “Did he do this to you?” she said, pointing at the red marks on her arm.
Gabriella gently pulled her arm away and rubbed the marks. She wouldn't answer Isabel.
Isabel balled her hand into a fist. “I'm so tired of that guy! No offense, but even when you were going out with him, I didn't like him.” she said with rage building in her voice.
"I'm sorry Gabriella but neither did I." Emma said.
“Iz, calm down please. I really don't want to make a scene.” Gabriella said, placing her hand on Isabel's shoulder.
Isabel took a deep breath and released her fist. She hugged Gabriella and smiled as best she could. “Tate won't get away with this, not again.” Isabel decided to herself.
After class, Gabriella walked out the door and was so ready to see Tristan. She looked in the hallway around her class but he was nowhere to be found. Gabriella frowned and started to walk off when a hand caught hers. She turned around and to her joy, Tristan was standing behind her, slightly out of breath.
“Hey, sorry I'm late. My teacher decided that he would wait to assign homework until after the bell rang.” he said.
“That's okay, I'm just glad you're here now.” Gabriella replied, leaning in to hug him.
“So it is you, Tristan.” a female voice said from behind them. Isabel stood right outside the door with Emma, Maria, and Kylie. Gabriella nodded, smiling. Isabel walked out the door and approached Tristan.
“Hello Isabel, I didn't know you were friends with Gabriella.” Tristan said with a friendly smile.
“Yes I am. Can I talk to you?” Isabel asked.
“Um, I was about to walk Gabriella to class.” Tristan said.
“Sorry, let me rephrase that. I need to talk to you, come here.” Isabel said, grabbing his sleeve and walking just out of the girls' earshot.
“What is it Isabel?” Tristan asked nervously.
“You better not hurt her. Her ex was a real jerk. I don't want a repeat of that for her. If you do hurt her, I will find you and you won't like the results.” Isabel threatened.
“I have no plan to hurt her Isabel. I care deeply about her, and I know her ex is a jerk. I witnessed that this morning first hand.” Tristan said compassionately.
