Chapter One

(A/N: Hello there who has stumbled upon this book. If you have not read my first book, The Bully's Nerd, then this might just not make any sense at all. Also, welcome to the Peach Family :) For those of you who are already have read TBN and are just anxious to read the first chapter of Holding Our Hearts, let's get into it! Onward with the chapter!)

Getting off that plane felt like a weight off my shoulders. Nine hours of traveling later and I feel like my brain might just shut down at any moment. Sighing, I adjusted the strap of my backpack on my shoulder as I walked towards baggage claim. My carry on wasn't much help, it kept getting stuck like every five paces. Finally, I got to where baggage claim was and I was also able to spot Marina. Marina was a small blonde lady who loved to dress like a hippie and believed way too much in superstitions, but she was my godmother and my mom's best friend since before she met my father. Next to her were her two kids, Hunter and Carolina which I haven't seen since I was like 7. Saying it's been a while is an understatement. Putting a smile on my face, I quickly walked over to them only to be engulfed in a hug by both Marina and Carolina.

"Oh my God, how long has it been?" Carolina mused, holding my hands and smiling at Marina.

"I think for us two, it's been eleven years and for Tia Marina and I, it's been what four years?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow with a wide smile on my face. She nodded and then quickly turned towards Hunter who was leaning against the wall, texting and not paying attention to anything that was going on.

"Jesus Christ. Hunter, Que te dije? Ve por la maleta niño, por Dios." She argued, making him roll his eyes and walk towards the conveyor belt where everyone was waiting for their luggage.

"He's lazy. It's honestly very annoying. He doesn't help around the house because he's too busy with his friends or with the girls." Marina complained, rolling her eyes and shaking her head.

"I knew you guys talked about me when I wasn't there but, ouch mom. That hurt." Hunter mocked with a smirk, rolling my suitcase behind him. That's when he finally turned to face me and smiled.

"Wow. When we were younger you seemed a bit taller than me. Look at you now. I'm gonna call you little lady from now on. You're so small." He chuckled, his lip ring gleaming just like the mischievousness in his eyes. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my suitcase from his hands, following Marina and Carolina out to the car.

We pulled up to an average sized white house, with a swing on the porch and a motorbike parked in the driveway. I turned to look at Hunter who nodded as if to say 'Yeah. It's mine'. I chuckled and peered over Carolina's shoulder to see her aggressively playing Candy Crush. With these two, my summer was bound to be pretty damn interesting. Marina killed the engine and turned in her seat to look back at me.

"The guest room is upstairs next to Carolina's so she'll show you. The kitchen is a free range so feel free to grab what you please. I only have three rules. Don't sneak guys up to your room. Let me know when you're going out and eat what I serve you. Besides that, I have confidence you have enough common sense to not do anything stupid. Now out of the car because I have to get to work. I'll be back around 8 pm so you guys might have to go out for dinner or fend for yourselves." She smiled, unlocking the doors so we could all get out the car. Hunter and I both made our way over to the trunk where my suitcase was only causing an argument on who was going to carry it.

"Look let me at least take it up the stairs for you ok? Their steep and you could fall" I groaned and nodded, following him and Carolina to the front door. Carolina unlocked the door and held it open for Hunter and me, letting it go once we were inside causing a huge slam to sound throughout the house.

"Really Carolina?" Hunter glared at her as she only giggled and waved me over to follow her up the stairs. Making our way up the steep stone stairs made me realize I really need to work on my cardio. Like Jesus fuck. Once we got to the top, I took a deep breath and leaned against the wall.

"How are you tired? It's only like fifteen stairs." Hunter chuckled, walking past me towards what I would assume is the guest room. Rolling my eyes, I padded over to the guest room where Carolina was laying down on the bed and Hunter was putting the suitcase in the closet.

"Alright little lady, I'm done here. Some of my friends are coming over and I need to get ready." He stated before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind him. Carolina and I turned and looked out at each other, laughing at his girlish need to get ready.

"So, tell me why you are here? I mean, I know PR is great and all but like weren't you going to like Miami or something?" she questioned, sitting up on her elbows when I sat next to her. I chuckled at her attempt not to cuss and shook my head.

"Yeah, but I thought maybe it would be good to change it up a bit. Venture out on my own this summer. Wait, how do you know we were going to Miami?" I questioned, raising my eyebrow.

"My mom told us. It was sort of a last minute thing I'm assuming considering you came here immediately after school let out." she shrugged, laying back down. I nodded silently and flinched when I heard the front door slam and a whole bunch of boys shout and laugh. Carolina got up and angrily threw open the door, and began yelling.

"Hey, cabrones! Shut up! You're gonna scare our guest." she said, stomping her foot and closing the door again.

"They're really stupid sometimes. Inconsiderate assholes I swear," she smiled, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the room.

3,364 miles away and even with that distance, I couldn't help but keep Jake in the back of my mind.

I'm back Peaches! Ok, so I know that it's starting off a bit slow but, I'm not going to rush it either. When I first wrote TBN, I was trying to rush it and eventually I realized that it needed to flow. Once I rewrote it, it became easier and it began to flow a lot better because it took time. Be patient with me and next chapter will be in Jake's POV so maybe it'll answer some questions and tie up some loose ends from TBN. Overall, I hope you guys are ready to get on this roller coaster that is HOH cause, boy is I gonna work my ass off for this. Besides that, what do you think of Hunter? How cute it Carolina's personality? Have you guys ever been to Puerto Rico? Who reading this is actually Puerto Rican or part Puerto Rican? Comment the PR flag if you are. Love you guys and I'll be updating soon. -Aime
